Optimus VI removing optical drive faceplate in drive swap

Hi all--

I'm wondering if anyone has any info about this. I've recently got a drive caddy for a second internal drive that I want to put in place of the optical drive on my Optimus VI. My issue is swapping the faceplates between the two.

The caddy has a flat faceplate that would leave a gap in the side of the laptop, but it comes off very easily. The optical drive is a different matter-- while it appears to have identical anchoring points drive light lens to make activity visible, it's less obvious that the faceplate is meant to be removed. It appears to have a catch that, if pried upwards, might allow the faceplate to come off, but it isn't clear if it's really two pieces or one. Has anyone manage to do this swap? Is is just a matter of wheedling that catch around until it comes free, or is there something more to getting the drive faceplate off?
