I’ve had my 15.3” 1660Ti Optimus XI for 10 days. The laptop is very understated and doesn’t look like a gaming laptop - I wouldn’t be embarrassed to use it in a meeting. The keyboard is nice but as with all Windows laptops, the trackpad is terrible.
Positives:
Negatives:
Observations that are neither positive or negative
I’m pleased with it so far and I’m happy I’ve made the switch to a laptop rather than a tower. I personally don’t think a tower PC is necessary these days with the performance you get in a laptop. I much prefer having something transportable that I can use in bed or on the sofa should I want to.
Positives:
- Excellent performance so far, Witcher 3 on Ultra is nice and smooth
- Paid extra for the 4 working day dispatch on Monday evening and it arrived on Friday morning
- Looks more or less like a slightly larger professional laptop - black, no logos anywhere and the extra vents are quite subtle
- Weighs less than a late 2015 15” Macbook pro
Negatives:
- When I first connected to my home WiFi I was only able to get 1-2Mb ona 35Mb connection. 1 hour on hold with PC Specialist support and my wireless interface was set to the wrong 802.1 protocol and wireless frequency. Works fine now and the gentlemen on the phone was very helpful but was an unpleasant start
- The integrated webcam doesn’t allow me to configure Windows Hello Face (face unlock). When I try, I get the message “We couldn’t find a camera compatible with Windows Hello Face.”
- There was a quiet rattle on the right hand side for the first 6 days of use but that seems to have sorted itself out now
Observations that are neither positive or negative
- Battery life while gaming - which is all I use it for is < 2 hours
