You could get a second hard disk so that he has more capacity. 120GB will get filled up fast!

A couple of things I would recommend though, upgrading the thermal paste. And the silver warraty :)!

I took your advice and added the silver warranty and upgraded the paste (No idea what it is though). I will hold off on the hard drive as he has 1TB external.

An external drive is not enough, my windows 8 install is about 70Gb without games and you dont want to install games to an external. You will need a second HDD with 7200rpm (not 5400rpm).
If the budget is tight change the SSD to a 750Gb hybrid drive, but you will definitely need more than 120GB.

It's true, you will struggle to fit all your stuff on the 120GB. I'm surprised your OS takes 70GB though! I'd suggest you get a bit in the form of an HDD! get a 5400rpm drive, but get the blue Scorpio ones. These are very, very good drives! I have two of them in my laptop and can vouch for them! They beat most other drives, including several 7200rpm drives (most notably they beat seagate's ones!!). I'd say they are only second to their bigger brother the Scorpio black. They are relatively quiet too!

I'd suggest the 750GB blue Scorpio or 500GB black Scorpio. Both are well priced and great performance. The total price of your laptop will come to something like 870-880. But it'll b worth it!

Music Guy123, the 70 GB is a bit misleading, it would be 40Gb ish for the OS the a few more for system recovery, a few for the paging file and then a sizeable chunk for the hibernation to allow fast restarts. Then maybe a gig or two for other programs non gaming related. It all adds up.

Got to agree with those who said about a large 2nd hard drive 120GB less OS install will disappear super fast and is well worth the extra cash

Here is my new order, would there be anything else to consider. Also is the thermal paste upgrade really useful?, no idea what it does.

That spec looks wonderful enjoy!

The thermal paste is the stuff between the CPU and the CPU cooler. Rather than having metal on metal, you put the paste on to get contact eerywhere. This maximises heat transfer, better thermal paste will provide better heat transfer. This means the cooler can dissapate more heat easier, therefore have a quieter, cooler laptop. Overall, better thermal paste means you will have better CPU temps and also a quieter laptop as teh fan won't have to work as hard. In a laptop, as everything is quite close together and they do run fairly hot, you want to keep it as cool as possible!
