Hi Guys,

i selected a 500gb ssd as my 1st drive and 1000gb ssd as my 2nd drive but PCS have still installed the OS on my 1000gb SSD.

is this an easy process? i didn't want to have to be re-installing an OS on the first day of receiving my machine which is slightly annoying.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks,

I guess mistakes do sometimes just happen if they've installed it on the second selected drive, but installing windows is actually quite simple now-a-days (not like it used to be) you'll be pleased top know

You can create a media installation on a USB stick and install from that - just use the instructions here : https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

You will want to download samsung magician from the Samsung website, your M.2 SSD's have extra features that the software will allow you to enable.

Samsung magician also has the ability to copy a drive contents over onto another samsung drive, but its the OS system, so I dont think its actually possible to just move it like that (not unless Samsung really is a magician)

But you still want the software, you'll be able to enable full power mode on the 980 Pro's.

Easiest way is to prep yourself a install stick
Have you got a decent USB drive lying around?

Turn it into a boot USB using Media Creation, then once thats done, create an extra folder on it and stick all the setup stuff you need.
You want to download a copy of the Ryzen chipset & driver tool, Armoury Crate, Nvidia GPU drivers (personally I would do a manual search, custom install without experience or audio ticked), Corsair iCue (im using 3.8, havent switched to 4 yet....anyone know what its like?) and Samsung Magician

Do the windows install, run the Ryzen chipset update, run windows update to death and reboot an extra time at end to make sure it offers you no more, install the GPU drivers, then armoury crate, then iCue and the samsung...then spend hours tweeking everything to how you want it.

16Gb is enough, as you only need at 8GB for it, make sure there's nothing on the USB stick you want to keep though as the whole thing will be wiped.

You'll need to make sure you run Windows Update multiple times to make sure its finds everything, but you'd have to do that anyways normally

Are you using your windows account, or have you logged into your windows account to associate the licence?
Do that before you reinstal, then in Windows setup use your windows account login and it will allow you to activate that way.

Yeah, I thought that too. I think for future spec helping we should advise that they log it on live chat which M.2 they want it on if there’s a drive speed discrepancy.
