Overclocked vs standard

Hello,

I'm just about to order a new pc from PCS and wanted to know what the difference is between a standard and overclocked cpu.

The cpu would be a Intel® Core™i7 Six Core Processor i7-8700k (3.7GHz) 12MB Cache

or

Overclocked Intel® Core™ i7-8700K Six Core (3.7GHz @ up to 4.8GHz)

I ask because I thought the standard cpu turbo boosted upto 4.7GHz

The 8700k boosts upto 4.7GHz on 1 core. All 6 cores would only boost to 4.3GHz. See: https://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/3077-explaining-coffee-lake-turbo-8700k-8600k

If you build otherwise identical systems (8700k, Z370 mobo, high end PSU, high end case, high end cooler e.g. Noctua, better thermal paste) the cost difference between a stock clocked and OCed system is about £10.

So for £10 you get upto 500MHz across 6 cores. In my view there's hardly any reason not to get it pre-OCed if you're shopping in the high end anyway :)
