Overclocking and guarantees

I am interested in buying an desktop, with the processor overclocked by PC Specialist.

What is the guarantee position? Is the chip still guaranteed by PC Specialist?

In your terms and conditions, clause 7.1 says: "All goods supplied by the seller are warranted free from defects for 12 months from the date of supply."

But 7.3 says "This warranty does not apply to any defect in the goods arising from fair wear and tear, wilful damage or accident. "

Is overclocking by PC Specialist "fair wear and tear, wilful damage or accident"?

So, if I get an overclocked chip and it fails after (say) 6 months - and there has been no change to the machine - then what is my cover?

Thanks

Hello,

Buying a machine overclocked by us does not affect your warranty. It is as if it were left at stock clocks.

Hello D Hamill

As Gorman has stated, any product that we sell will be covered by warranty in the state that we sell it. When we overclock a computer, we force you to order:

1. Correct CPU paste.
2. The correct CPU cooler.
3. A suitable PSU.
4. We configure the settings in your BIOS for a stable overclock.

We provide warranty for the above based on this. Should you then proceed and tamper with the overclock and push the settings beyond stability up until the point where you cause irreparable damage to your CPU/computer, this will not be covered by our warranty.

Hope this helps, but if you have any other questions please do not hesitate to ask :)
