Pay for PC outright?

I've been saving up for a year now (I am a student at Uni) and have saved £700 into my debit card bank account, so I decided to buy a new PC and after I chose all my hardware, it says at the top £649 so it was well within my budget. Now I go onto order now and it says;
Representative Example:
Buy Now Pay Later (12 Months / 60)
Price:
£649.00
Deposit:
£6.49
Total Amount of Credit:
£642.51
Interest Rate:
11.24% Fixed
Deferred Period:
Nothing to pay for 12 months (If you pay off the remaining balance of £642.51 during this period no interest will be charged, however a one-off early settlement fee of £29.00 will apply).
Monthly Instalments:
48 instalments of £20.91 per month.
Representative APR:
16.9% APR Representative
Total Charge For Credit:
£361.17
Balance Payable:
£1,003.68
Total Amount Payable (Inc. Deposit):
£1,010.17

So does that mean the PC is actually £1,010.17? Can't I just pay for it outright for £649 so I could actually get it?

That’s if you’re paying on credit which you don’t want to do. You just go through a normal payment.

nefore ordering though, I’d get some advice on your build!

How would I go through to a normal payment? and I have spent the last 4 days getting advice from other people so I am fairly happy with it!

This would be STRONGLY advised against. It's a throwaway pc, has zero upgradeability which makes it extremely expensive and very shortlived, you'd have to throw it away after a year or so rather than being able to upgrade it over 7 - 10 years.

Damn, what would I have to change (and with what?)
Firstly the budget. With Covid, prices are sky high and where we would normally be able to configure an entry level gaming PC around £650, it’s now costing around £900 for the same parts.

Unfortunately I can't change the budget, I can only spare around £650max, my original was around £500, Like I said, I'm not looking for a high tech gaming PC running at 60fps, I just want a normal PC that I can do my work on and then play low intensity games at around 30-40 fps and normal graphics.

Then what I’d suggest is spending what you have now on a solid platform with a basic GPU, that will cover those requirements for now, then further down the line when you’ve got some cash, you could buy a decent GPU and just slot it in. This way the PC would happily last 7 - 10 years with gpu upgrades rather than 1 - 2 years before you have to replace the whole thing.

Agree with Spydertracks. PCS have an open case policy so you can work on the machine without voiding the warranty.

With that in mind get the best possible components that are not cost effective to change, like the CPU. GPU, storage and more RAM you can add as funds become available. An m2 is the best/fastest option for the OS and main software but a normal SSD would be ok, that would save a bit.

As an example, this brings it within budget and is a really solid platform that will be far far better in the long term for all uses especially gaming. It's configured without windows as that takes it over budget, but I suggest that if you're a student, you contact your college / university because often you will be able to either get windows free or for a massively reduced cost:

Then when you get to the page you were on mentioning about credit, scroll to the very bottom and it will ask you to input your email address to create the web account and has a “proceed” button next to it, that will take you to normal payment options.

I would recommend paying by credit as you will get Section 75 protection, even if you pay off the credit a few days later.
