PC 1 long beep then 3 beeps but still boots fine after?

Hi there,
Just got my new build from PC Specialist (specs underneath) it had everything but the GPU prebuilt as I had my own 3080 for use, after installing the GPU, when I pressed the power button I heard 1 long beep then 3 short beeps and the screen stays black for about 4-5 seconds before just booting up like normal to the login page. I have no issues with performance or anything else it just seems to be a long boot time. I looked up the beep code meaning and it says the gpu could be the issue, but the gpu is working completely fine so I'm not sure what else could be the issue.

There's a couple of factors

With AM5, on the first few boots, the board will "train" the memory timings and speeds to get optimal stability. This can lead to posts of around 1 minute while it's training.

If long boots continue after the first 2 or 3 boots, this could point to the board being unable to find a stable overclock on the RAM, worth doing a memtest86 pass if this is the case, if either stick is faulty, get the pair RMA'd.

The 1 long 3 short is indeed a GPU error, BUT, it could be a false positive. There is a known bug on some boards including Asus where if it can't detect the monitor on power up, it gives an error code. This can be because it's an older monitor that doesn't constantly ping a return code to the board, nothing actually wrong with the build.

To determine this, power on the monitor (ie take it out of sleep) before powering on the PC, and the beeps should go away.

Also, on first boot, the system would have recognised the new GPU as a hardware change which could have led to needing to reboot to save the new settings.

Surprisingly, turning on the monitor before powering on the PC actually causes the beeps to stop weirdly. Does this mean that I'll have to turn on the monitor every single time before turning on the pc to stop the beeps? or is there a way around it?

Thank you!

I have an ASUS motherboard and it does the exact same thing. If my monitor is on it beeps once on startup. If its off, I get multiple beeps.

One beep is a normal successful post beep. So that's the same thing, it's a false beep as the computer isn't receiving a return code from the monitor (as it doesn't give one)

It's a false VGA failure beep from the motherboard, it's not an issue.
