PC for 3D Rendering - is this cooling fine?

Hi there, we're looking in getting a new PC at work for lots of heavy 3D rendering and animation. I think we are happy with what we have got here, but mainly wanted to check if the Processor Cooling is fine on this as I'm not really familiar with that.

Any help or suggestions are welcome, thanks :)

Don't get the 14900KS. It's an ultra-marginal gain in performance for loads more heat and a decent amount more money. The H150i is the best cooler PCS stocks. It won't keep the 14900K from being thermally limited, but then nothing will.

I would upgrade to the 1200W PSU in either case, given what a 14900K and a 4090 can collectively draw. Personally I'd go for the Solidigm SSDs rather than the Samsung ones given their better endurance, but you may prefer Samsung's reputation and support. I'd lose Norton. And I'd add at least the £5 extra warranty.

Personally I'd also be inclined to go with AMD, because you get similar performance with less heat and more upgrade paths, but if you're committed to the Absolute Best Right Now No Matter What, the 14900K is probably the choice to make.

And finally while the Define 7 is an unambiguously great case, it'll limit you thermally compared to one with better airflow. I'd go for the Corsair 5000D Airflow or, ordering elsewhere, the Fractal Meshify 2.

Just a heads up that the aforementioned 1200w shift is missing in the quote above.

I would absolutely agree with the 7950X in this instance though. Yes, the 14900k will pip it in some metrics right now, the 7950X pips the 14900k in some as well.... but over the piece the average of the 14900k is better. I would argue that this won't track as well over the course of a long render while in a PC case though.

The real consideration is the next generation from AMD. From the rumours already out and about the instructional increase is around 20%, which will make a massive impact on the professional chops of the AMD chips. I would bet decent money on the next iteration from AMD laying waste to the 14900k across all metrics. With AM5 this next generation would slot straight into your motherboard. With Intel you will need to replace the motherboard and CPU for compatibility, my guess is the RAM will also need a refresh for higher clock speeds (we're now easily into the 7000s).

I would agree with every word of this.
