PC issue display card problem.

My PC had a hissy fit this morning - arrived yesterday and worked faultlessly all day yesterday. Started ok this morning, booted destiny 2 and after 5 minutes display went dead and the rtx2080Ti light and fans went dead and case fans start running extreme. Had to power down via power switch. Restarted pc - same issue. Restarted the machine and graphic card not working. Unfortunately the board, Crossfire Hero VIII has no display adapter onboard and I thought I would have to use an older card I have GTX295.

Unplug the pc and notice the card was loose and the power connectors were not fully inserted. Reseated the card and reconnected the power cables - everything seems OK, I notice that USB header connector behind the card has a cable that's inserted and the cable is is applying pressure on the card. Is there a right angle adapter for the USB header connector so that I can run the USB header cable behind the motherboard?

Any help appreciated.

Here are pictures of the cable problem I have.

First shows the cable pushing on the graphic card.

Second show the same and also that the header plug is applying pressure to the connector.

Third show how the header plug is not fully inserted into the connector because of the folded cables and the proximity of the graphic card.

I think I need a right angle connector or an extension block to take it past the card.

Any ideas?

Regards

Mac

Yeah, that's not good. I would raise this with PCS and show them the photos, that's not acceptable.

You can get right angle connectors like this, but not certain that would fit either, it's the cable, it needs to be taken to another grommit through to the back.

Found this - or do I need a 20 pin connector?

Best to double check the connector, just unplug it, or download the motherboard manual and double check that connector, make sure it’s the right one.

But Akasa are brilliant cables, highly recommend.

Not impressed with technical support - took 3 messages to confirm that I have a 19 connection and then they advised not to install the extension cable.

I paid £4000 for this machine and I am not impressed with the minimal cable management. I have ordered the cable and will be installing to ease pressure on the Motherboard USB connector.

Regards all and stay safe.

Generally it's better to phone PCS, you get stuff sorted faster that way.

I think I'd be telling them to take it back and sort out that cable issue. You really shouldn't have to clean up after whoever built it.

PCS will also want to know if a builder is not up to spec. You want it right too without having to mess about yourself. [emoji846]

Yesterday evening my PC reset itself and when the post screen came on it had green lines across the whole monitor - windows booted and the green lines were more defined across the monitor.

I log onto windows and checked device manager I noticed a error code 43 and the resource tab says it was not using resources because it has a problem.

I checked online for green lines and it mentioned possible driver issue, faulty cable or graphic card hardware issue.

I uninstalled the graphic driver using DDU and proceeded to install the latest version for the graphic card drivers via geforce experience, restarted windows and had the same result as above.

I plugged the display port cable into the other port and the same problem.

I then proceeded to do a fresh install of windows from a usb boot drive made 4 months ago.
Same issue as above.

I created a fresh USB boot drive just now and currently reinstalling.

I noticed a few months back that the audio output from the display port to my monitor has gotten quieter - not sure if this is part of the same issue.

Any help would be appreciated or is this repair under my warranty.

That looks like a graphics card failure to me. What CPU do you have? If it has an iGPU you can try plugging in to that and see whether the green lines disappear..

Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 9 3950X 16 Core CPU (3.5GHz-4.7GHz/73MB CACHE/AM4)
Motherboard
ASUS® CROSSHAIR VIII HERO (DDR4, PCIe 4.0, CrossFireX/SLI) - RGB Ready!

Motherboard does not have graphic output except the bespoke card on the PCI slot.
