PC not waking from sleep

Hello Paul

About a year ago I received a lovely PC from PCSpecialist. I rarely put the system to 'sleep' because it usually does not wake up again. But I did just do exactly that - I made sure I didn't have anything (other than Google Chrome and Filemail) running, because I suspected it might not wake up again. About half an hour later, I tapped the spacebar to wake it....wiggled the mouse....the internal LED lighting in the PC's case came on, and the "DisplayPort" message appeared on one of my monitors, but other than that, the screens remained black on all three monitors, ignoring my random key presses. I waited a while....the lights in the case remained on, just doing their usual thing...fans running as normal, but nothing on the screens, as per usual when trying to wake from sleep. After a couple of minutes I pressed the reset button to force a restart, and the system powered up as normal.

I last updated Windows 10 a few days ago, but this issue has been plaguing me for months. My workaround is to just not put the system to sleep, but shut it down or leave it running for short periods of non-use (I have my monitors set to sleep after 15 minutes or so).

Does anyone have any suggestions what might be causing this?

Thanks in advance for any help!

~ Paul

Thanks for the speedy and informative reply, @SpyderTracks . I might hold off on the chipset update for a while - other than the sleep issue, the system is running very reliably and I have some ongoing projects and a lot of work upcoming over the next couple of months and the last thing I'd want to do is jeopardise anything as important-sounding as the chipset drivers!

Can you upload a screenshot of your windows update page?

yeah, it's really out of date, you've got a major version update waiting, plus normal updates, plus loads of optional updates.

You need to apply all updates and get current, then retest.
