Pc randomly shuts down and then turn back on.

Hi I bought a custom pc from PCS back in the summer. Sometimes my computer just randomly shuts down then turns back on. so far it has not happened when I'm actively playing games or using a programme, just when it is left on. Is there any checks or things I could do to sort this problem out?

Enter the command sysdm.cpl in the Run command box. In the dialog that opens, click the Advanced tab and then the bottom Settings button (in Startup & Recovery). In there uncheck the 'Automatically restart' box, that will stop it restarting so you can read whatever error messages you're getting.

Also in there, make sure the 'Write bugging information' item is set to 'Automatic memory dump', make sure the dump file location is %SystemRoot%\Memory.dmp and that the 'Overwrite any existing file' box is checked.

Your initial post suggests that the answer will be 'NO' to the following questions but it's worth asking anyway.....

(And given the hassle I caused @ubuysa in the past by making him chase a squirrel up a tree for no reason, I would be happier to rule the following out for him too! )

Have you ever changed any settings in BIOS?

Or Overclocked, Undervolted, or otherwise changed anything related to your CPU configuration or power delivery? Whether through BIOS or via any desktop application such as Ryzen Master?

And the same Q's for RAM?

Or changed any settings within your Windows Power Plan?

I haven't knowingly changed any settings, however can't discount this. Can you advise what they should be so I can check? My Ryzen Master profile is on default.

You almost certainly won't have changed anything that could cause your restarts to my mind without knowing it. Things like undervolting needs fairly specific action to achieve. Even more so when it comes to RAM overclocks and so on.

In Ryzen Master the default profile should provide for BIOS controlled settings - so again you would know if you fiddled with something in BIOS. I'm not 100% sure, but as far as I can tell, on the Ryzen Master 'Advanced View' your 3600XT should be showing limits of 128W PPT, 80A TDC and 125A EDC. If it's showing those values then nothing has been changed. If it shows something else miles from those numbers then let us know.

How are your system temperatures incidentally?

thanks for giving me some things to look at I have just checked those settings and they seems to all be lining up correctly. It is only using 33% of ppt and 18% of TCD and 26% of EDC is that normal?
My CPU temperature just using chrome and discord is around 50 degrease c i have not checked when I'm gaming though, my GPU goes up to 75 degrease when gaming.
One other thing when i go into task manager my CPU speed is around 4.20 GHz when on computer not gaming is that fine?

I just unselected the auto restart and now should be all
