PC running slow when booting up----

hello, can anybody help. My PC is running too slow when booting up. From when you see the "PC specialist logo", it goes blank. I would say this is for at least for a minute or even longer. It shouldn't take this long, I have discussed this with PC Specialist, but they are telling me what I have already done. For example using bios and selecting my main ssd drive and using fast boot up.

this is a message I recently got. down below This is all doing my head in now

If the screen goes blank it may be due to the driver not being detected so what you do is restart your computer repeatedly press backspace and it should put you in the BIOS next select the driver 1TB PCS 2.5" SSD, SATA 6 Gb that originally had the operating system then press enter on the saved changes once that is done.

If we can assist you any further, please do not hesitate to contact us.

if anyone can help, would appreciate it.

When your PC finally boots up, go into Task Manager, click on the Start-up tab. At top right is shown the Last BIOS Time, that's how long it took between powering on and Windows boot starting. How long is that? Then look down the right hand column (Start-up impact), this shows you how much of an impact each feature has during Windows booting, look for ones that say High.

Let us know what you find there.

BTW. Do you hear any beeps when the screen goes blank?

none of them say high, but it says 9 seconds. still it takes long to boot up
A 9 second BIOS time is excellent, so it's not a POST issue then.

If none of your Start-up applications say High then it's not one of those. That only leaves Windows itself.

Can you please post your FULL spec from the original order so we can see exactly what build you have...

Might be better waiting for more knowledgeable folk to comment but my first steps would be:
1. Take off all anti-virus software and just use Windows Defender (which is normally more than enough) to see if improves boot time.
2. You say you are using Mcafee but your order also indicates Bullguard so if you don't want to do (1) above at least make sure you only have one additional anti-virus program running as they may be conflicting.
3. Turn off 'fast start up' (I know it sounds weird but I have seen a couple of PC's slowed down on boot up and when booted up via this option so might be worth testing just to make sure as you can turn it back on if it doesn't improve the matter).

Hope it helps.

boot up checks / scans itself?

If you have the system more then a year as stated above a clean install of windows woulddo it the world of good and a disk clean up of each drive and all browsing history cookies cleaned up

Open a command prompt or PowerShell session and enter the command chkdsk c: /f /x this will check the NTFS filesystem on your system drive - you will have to reboot when it's finished. Look in the report at the end for any problems found that were fixed and especially any problems found that were not fixed.

Then (after rebooting) open an elevated command prompt or PowerShell session and enter the command sfc /scannow this will check your critical Windows system files. Look in the report at the end for any problems found that were fixed and especially any problems found that were not fixed.

Disable Fast Startup (this has already been suggested).

As a last resort enter msconfig in the Run command box and click the Services tab. Check the 'Hide all Microsoft services' box and uncheck every box that's left. This will stop all non-Microsoft services from starting - you will lose a lot of functionality but the system will boot. If it boots quickly in that state then it's one of your installed services - enable the services one at a time (or rather, one application at a time) until you find the culprit.

can anyone recommend what Thunderbolt 3 port I would need for my pc specs. I have seen a few, like the gigabyte titan ridge. Not sure which I would need. I have an Apollo twin interface, for my audio workstation

The thunderbolt add in card has to match the board, this is the one for your motherboard:
