PC spec check

So, I'm aiming to get a new PC but I'm not very savvy when it comes to computers. After some googling/research I've come up with a parts list, but I'd appreciate any feedback about it (if the parts dont mix well or if I'm overdoing it in any areas).

I'm going to be using photoshop, doing video editing and a bit of game design through unity. My budget is around £1000 (can go to £1100 at a push). Thanks

Are you going to be playing games as well as designing them? Just trying to work out what level of GPU is needed as Unity seems to be fine with anything that has DX12

You have added a HDMI to VGA cable but both the monitor and the GPU have HDMI connections so it's not needed...unless you have a second monitor that needs it or something.

I've had a play with some specs and I can't get to £1100 with something I'm happy with...this is as close as I can get with some sacrifices:

If you purely design games and don't play them, then you could probably drop to the GT 1030 which would bring you to £1118. But then I'm not sure if this will negatively impact the video editing
Hey, thanks! I appreciate the advice, it's really helpful.

I will probably play some games, but not in a serious sense. So, if I have to drop playing games to make sure the game design/photo & video editing works efficiently then I'm happy to do that. I'll probably wait till the end of the month so I can comfortably get the one you suggested at £1,227.

What level of video editing are you doing, and do you use much in the way of effects or is it simply cutting a piece and putting it together?
What programs are you using for it?

16GB RAM might also be something to look at, what resolution are you working in?

To be honest, doing a decent build to include video editing for £1000 is unrealistic without heavy compromises in performance.
Photoediting can get away with less cores and is more focused on single core performance, video editing tends to prefer more cores and effects will use the GPU in a lot of circumstances, the higher the resolution and the longer/more involved the piece the more its going to eat up your RAM as well.

Hi mate, for another option. It'll give you significantly more ompf in the graphics department but also have a stronger PSU to include for upgrades in future

Although I wouldn't personally buy the mouse, keyboard and monitor below.

If theres a willingness to wait, i'd strongly recommend that and trying to save as much as you can, aim more towards £1600/£1800 if you can and you also might then be able to take advantage of the new release stuff around Sept.

So, the video editing is 100% a hobby. I'm just looking to create YouTube videos. But I do need the PC within the next month for photo editing (work related) and game design (starting a project with a friend). So, I could probably deal with the video editing being a bit weaker now and possibly upgrading or getting a PC specifically for video editing in the future.

Hi mate,

Cheers, I appreciate having another set of specs to compare and think about. Especially considering the room for upgrades later on. Thanks for the advice.
