I dont work for PCS so cant comment officially however from my understanding the computers do go through testing and quality control before they leave PCS. I think the number of issues that occur are in the minority compared to the volume of PC's that are shipped and work fine straight away :)

Yes, they do test the PC's before they send them out, if they didn't there would be an awful awful lot more posts about things not working, personally I've had two PC's from PCS and both have worked perfectly fine and I'm planning on getting another one from them in six months.

Remember also you will also always see a lot more complaints than good reviews, just cos people don't bother to post if its all good :)

PCS do pack their PC's well before sending out but this isn't going to stop all damage 100% especially if the courier is having a bad day. You will note however that most of the issues with things being damaged or not working initially do tend to get resolved quickly and helpfully.

I think the non-named PSU's are generally manufactured by FSP.
The non-named hard drives may change dependent on what deal PCS can get for a good price and good quality at the time, you may have to ring them to find out what they have in stock at the moment.

What are your planned uses for the machine and if you could give us your budget, some of us may be able to suggest amendments if we think it'd fit in your budget and improve things for your planned uses.

The FX-4170 will perform as well as the i5 for battlefield 3, with the gtx 650 ti you wouldn't be to reach 30fps at BF3 in ultra mode. For your budget I think a more balanced spec without compromising the graphics card is having an AMD cpu.

If you want to be able to play newer games at a decent setting, the AMD is a better option since it is cheaper so it will allow you to get a better graphics card, the AMD FX-4170 will cope perfectly fine with games and as much general office work as you can throw at it.

hmm I just like them better sorry, I might get without a graphics card then buy a gtx 660 from elsewhere

So do I, but with quite a low budget, the AMD's really are a much better option.
And surely buying a better GPU than the 650 somewhere else would push you over your budget anyways :)
