Pc won’t start up.

Can’t post the specs without the pc - which won’t start - but it has an i7 processor and nvidia GeForce graphics of some kind; fractal design case and a Corsair vs450 psu.
Around 5 years old, unmodified and always behaved well.
Shut down on Monday as normal, returned Thursday late to hear a ticking noise from the speakers. PC won’t turn on, ticking stops when I turn off the power to the supply. No lights inside, no fans, psu cold. surg protector showing green lights as normal; tried a different kettle lead on a different socket so problem definitely internal. No idea what to take apart to test anything.
any suggestions?

Thanks

My thought too. Turns out I have access to a brand new Corsair TX550M which looks good, but will it work as a good alternative? Any likely compatibility issues with connections or voltages Before I take it apart?

Oh, yeah, would be a much better option, the TXM's are really strong PSUs. and the wattage is more suitable. Has the same connection types and ratings, just more efficient and semi modular.

It's the ticking you mentioned, that can often be a short in the PSU leading off and on and off again.
