I find I'm in need of a new laptop as my existing machine is physically falling to bits. The current machine is a modified Lenovo 17" 20gb ram 2TB ssd and 1 TB hhd
My main use is heavy use of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom and various other graphics programs.

I would be really grateful if you could cast your eye over this build and give me any advice. Thanking you in anticipation, Steve Mallon

Have decided to up the ram to 32gb as sometimes Photoshop will slow down with the 20gb that I currently have. Would love any thoughts on the configuration before I proceed with the order.

The Unit arrived yesterday and appears to be in excellent condition. I was very surprised that there was no documentation with the unit, not even a checklist of what should have come with my order.

I've never had a checklist of parts from PCS, I don't think they ever do include one. You should have got a welcome booklet from PCS.

Deffinately no paper work whatsoever. I am able to download a welcome pack from my account but I prefer the physical. To be able to turn a page whilst perusing the effects on screen.
Did you get a box with spare components in it, just no paper booklet?

The paper booklet isn't really specific to your order its just a general guide to doing certain types of things so isn't required as such, but if you really want a hard copy of one I'm sure PCS will send you one if you let them know.

All that I received was the laptop, power supply, mains lead and soft case/shoulder bag.

In that case I'd get on the chat to PCS & tell them there was no welcome pack with the laptop, it should include a welcome book and also a cd with all the drivers on it along with the laptop user manual

Thank you Martyn for your reply. I've left a message PC Specialists and now await their answer.

After an exchange of emails PC Specialist has sent out a welcome pack. It arrived this morning. All it contained was a Welcome Booklet and a spare mains lead. There was no cd with all the drivers on it, nor the laptop user manual. Have fired up the machine and I now believe that only windows generic drivers were loaded. There is no backlit keyboard display and no partitions with drivers or recovery options on the SSD. Needless to say I am very disappointed with the whole process. I am now in position 12 in the queue to talk with someone at PC Specialists. :-(

Since you ordered it with Windows it will have all the correct drivers already installed. In any case you should always run Windows Update repeatedly on any new PC/laptop, if there are any updated drivers Windows Update will find them.

PCS do not ship a factory recovery partition, it's one of the advantages of using PCS.

For any software that's not a driver (and you really should let Windows Update install all those, except possibly the Nvidia driver which you should obtain only from the Nvidia website) if you logon to your account on the main PCS website (where you ordered) and click on Tech Support and then Download, all the software required will be found in there. (Don't install the drivers from here, they will likely be outdated, use Windows Update instead).

You have not been diddled or short changed in any way. With a laptop you do only get a welcome booklet, AFAIK PCS have never shipped laptop manuals. Buying a custom built PC/laptop is very different from buying from a high street store!

Thank you UBUYSA for your quick .response I think what threw me was this "Included with your computer will be your documents, discs, manuals, cables and accessories. All necessary drivers are supplied with your computer and will already be installed for you if you have ordered an operating system with your computer." I now have the machine up and running and am very impressed with it. Just need to reinstall all the programs that I can't do without.
