I'm very happy with my current monitor, https://store.acer.com/en-gb/acer-nitro-vg0-gaming-monitor-vg220qh-black-um-wv0ee-h06, so I think the build should be great for another 4 years

Oh, it's just for gaming, sorry... I do play some games like Baldur's Gate 3 that are quite demanding but fortunately nothing that requires more than 60 FPS or 120 hz refresh rate, etc 😃

No more than £1500.... Thing is, I definitely need to upgrade my current PC's GPU & storage, while it'd be a good idea to upgrade the main drive & RAM as well. At that point, it seems worth getting a new one, put together by experts, with the 3 year warranty on everything  I looked at the general thread on it, so just making sure I haven't messed it up yet

This is tricky, because it's a case of working out what PC makes sense with that monitor. The answer is "not many". It's really not a gaming monitor, so choosing a high-end gaming PC isn't worth it. In particular, there's precisely no point in getting a 7800X3D. You might as well get the 7600 and save hundreds of pounds.

You should definitely upgrade the motherboard and power supply* if you want a long-term PC. I'd get faster RAM with Ryzen chips. I'd get way better storage. And I'd probably upgrade the graphics card because you are so much under budget still: the 6650 XT is quite a lot better than the 6600, even if your monitor won't be able to make the most of that fact.

*This isn't necessary for these components, but gives you a chance at future upgrades.

Finally, I'd personally get a different case. This build does not need a monster case like the Define 7. I'd get something less dramatic, such as the Fractal Pop Silent.

This is a way better system, about as good as I could consider recommending for that monitor.

Thanks. I do need at least 4 usb sockets & for some reason the case I picked seemed to be the 1st saying it had that many... As long as there's a standard eternet socket, I don't need WiFi on the PC 😎

There's about 10 USB sockets on the back of the PC on the motherboard, along with 2.5Gb ethernet. You'll be just fine!

OK, I dunno why it doesn't say about those... I don't need 10 USB sockets! 🤔
The USB sockets are either on the front of the case (in which case they're part of the case itself) or on the back (in such case they're part of the motherboard). Each combination of case and motherboard will be different.

OK, is there some way to save money by cutting down on the extra ports....? 😎
No, they're integral to the motherboard. You can get fewer by going to a lower tier of motherboard but that comes with its own costs.

Really a USB port is a pretty inexpensive part of the PC! It's not costing you to have more than you need.
