Please could I get some second opinions on this build?

Hi everybody,

I am looking for some advice/second opinions on the build below before as I am not up to date on the latest hardware trends and just want to be sure I am making the most informed purchase

The budget for this PC is a maximum of £3500. It will be primarily used for gaming with the occasional video editing project and general productivity tasks (M365)

The main games I have been wanting to play as of late are Star Citizen and Escape from Tarkov which do not run well on my current PC. I am also struggling to run Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 on my current PC (6700k and GTX 1080 - Having issues maintaining 60 FPS even on low settings) and while it might be considered novel by some, I would like to also experience Ray Tracing and take advantage of modern technology like DLSS which isn't possible on my current PC.

I am aiming for the PC to arrive in time for my birthday in mid-January, so would be looking to order a system within the next few days based on current lead times.

I have included some notes below to assist as required.

Case
CORSAIR 5000D AIRFLOW TEMPERED GLASS GAMING CASE
Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™ i7 16-Core Processor i7-13700K (3.4GHz) 36MB Cache (I have typically used Intel CPU's in the past, so don't have much experience with AMD, hence opting for Intel here)
Motherboard

ASUS® ROG STRIX Z690-A GAMING WIFI D4 (LGA1700, USB 3.2, PCIe 5.0) - ARGB Ready
Memory (RAM)
32GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB PRO DDR4 3200MHz (2 x 16GB) (I have opted with DDR4 for this configuration mainly due to cost at this time and due to the relative 'newness' of DDR5, leading to higher costs. Is DDR4 still sufficient for the future or should I swap to DDR5 and pay the premium now?
Graphics Card

16GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4080 - HDMI, DP, LHR (This could be replaced with an RTX 3080, though I am reluctant to do this as I would like to come in at the current gen relative top end)
1st M.2 SSD Drive

1TB SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 3500MB/R, 3300MB/W) (I intend for the OS to be installed on this drive)
1st M.2 SSD Drive

2TB CORSAIR FORCE MP600 NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD (up to 4950 MB/R, 4000 MB/W) (Main games storage drive)
1st Storage Drive

2TB Samsung 870 QVO 2.5" SSD, SATA 6Gb/s (up to 560MB/sR | 530MB/sW) (Other Mass Storage)
Power Supply

CORSAIR 1000W RMx SERIES™ - MODULAR 80 PLUS GOLD, ULTRA QUIET (I am under the impression, this has enough overhead for potential future upgrades - More storage as it becomes cheaper, additional/change to DDR5 RAM down the line - Please advise if this is not the case)
Power Cable

1 x 1.5 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead, 1.0mm Core)
Processor Cooling
Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX RGB Hydro Series High Performance CPU Cooler (I am under the impression air coolers aren't really a 'thing' anymore and AIO's are the way to go - Is this sufficient or overkill? I have never used an AIO before)
Thermal Paste

ARCTIC MX-4 EXTREME THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY COMPOUND
Extra Case Fans
2 x 120mm Thermaltake TOUGHFAN 12 Case Fans (Thinking about Thermals, would this be enough fan wise or should more be added?)
Sound Card

ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
Network Card
10/100/1000 GIGABIT LAN PORT
USB/Thunderbolt Options
MIN. 2 x USB 3.0 & 2 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL + MIN. 2 FRONT PORTS
Operating System
Windows 11 Home 64 Bit - inc. Single Licence [KUK-00003]

Very nice budget here, just want to check that you've got the monitor to match it. The 4080 is a monster of a card, and it absolutely needs a 4k monitor to make the most of it. I understand wanting to get the latest tech, especially when you're fortunate enough to have a budget like this, but the 4080 is also more than £500 more than the 3080, and the 3080 is already slightly overkill for any resolution below 4k.

Besides that, build looks pretty strong. I would probably change around the storage a little bit, and possibly swap in the 5000X case as it comes around the same price once you factor in the extra fans included.

Drop the thermal paste option too, the Corsair coolers come with pre-applied high quality paste already applied.
DDR4 seems to be the way to go for now, price wise, especially if you are going with Intel.
I agree with @MrWilson too, with your budget, the drives could be improved for better speeds.
And don't add too many extra fans, if your case is high quality then adding more fans will likely reduces it's cooling effectiveness, not improve it!

Thank you for your input @MrWilson. Greatly appreciated!

I currently run two of these https://www.samsung.com/latin_en/business/monitors/business/led-ls22d300hy-zp and while this is overkill, I won't be running on these for much longer.

For my birthday, I will be getting one of these https://www.currys.co.uk/products/l...ps-gaming-monitor-black-and-red-10240849.html with the aim of adding a couple of other monitors for multitasking down the line.

When you mention changing the storage around a little bit. What would you suggest? My main thinking with the 3 drives was to include the 2 main NVME drives as the primary with the (I'm assuming slower) SATA SSDs acting as a backup of sorts, so I don't need to keep uninstalling/reinstalling games (My internet connection is decent but not the fastest in the world), which would also mean potentially operating two steam library folders, but of course, I may be overthinking things.

Solid monitor choice, LG make solid displays, and it'll let you get your money's worth from the 4080. Made a few suggested changes below. Switched in the 5000X for reasons mentioned above, think it's like £5 difference factoring in the removal of the Thermaltake fans. Changed your primary drive to the faster 980 pro, and downsized it to 500GB; you only want windows and programs on here as the drive will start slowing down rapidly if you fill it above 50% capacity. Ditched the arctic paste too as it was unnecessary.
