Hi,

I would appreciate some feedback on the following specification. This is my budget limit (£1,800) and my key requirements are for a pc which is as future proof as possible for the money. My main use will be video editing and using Photoshop and Illustrator. Looking for lots of storage space for loads of photos and home movies. No gaming needs.

Thanks.

I'd say you've pretty much hit the nail on the head with that spec mate :)

Couple of things: Consider upgrading the case for better cooling + looks (Looks are your opinion), change the 1st HDD for a Caviar Black to get fast file loading and boot times :) (would suggest a SSD, but you're at your budget).

One thing you may consider, drop the i7 to the 4 core version, then spent the money saved on an SSD :)

Thanks for the feedback. I don't really have a view on the case - which would you recommend? I will certainly change the first HDD to Caviar Black as you have suggested. Regarding SSDs, if I did switch to one it would have to be only 120gb. What would be the benefits and would should it be used for? Thanks again.

The benefits of an SSD are that booting and loading of applications would be speeded up dramatically. You would basically use the SSD for your OS and most used programs.
The cons (at least for me) are the price still, theyre still expensive and not very large either.

I reckon they are very much like multi-monitor setups, once you've used them, you cant live without them, but if you haven't used them, you'll be perfectly fine without :)

 Just realised - I am restricted in the case size as it needs to fit within my computer desk! Looks like I am limited to the PCS Maelstrom T900. Hope it is a decent case.
