Poor sound performance of my new Defiance VIII

Hello
My configuration is: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/defianceVIII-17/k5A5EqWu84/

Im experiencing issues with my defiance VIII laptop's sound perfomance(The audio system is Sound BlasterX Atlas pro-gaming). The built-in speakers sound plastic, lofi, harsh and distorted.

I did some testing with equalizer in Ableton (sound editing software) and noticed that everything below 100 hz is almost completely inaudible.
And overall sound below 300 hz is significantly quiet and lacking many frequencies. Overall speakers lacking frequencies and doesnt sound full.

Ive also tried using headphones on this laptop and it seems that my headphones sound lounder and a little bit cleaner and fuller on my older acer laptop. When ive tried plugging in external audiocard (focusrite scarlett 2i2 2nd gen) the same headphones sound the same on both of my laptops. So i believe something might be wrong with either my audiocard or drivers.

Ive tried reinstalling audiodrivers(the ones available on your website and on cd) couple of times and it doesnt seem to help. Also after installing drivers called "SpeakerEQClevo_2.0.0.9" and "CreativeAudioEffectsComponentInstaller_2.1.1.0" (included on CD and in Download section for this laptop) it didnt install any equalizers, audio effects or other adjustable audio software. In the end of installation process setup programs said thad everything is successfully installed, but it seems like nothing was installed. I couldnt find any new software. The only thing I found after installation is empty folder "C:\Program Files\Creative\Creative Audio Effects Component".

Also ive tried installing audio driver from https://www.soundblaster.com/blasterx/software/ it installed Sound Blaster Command software and that software couldnt find my audio device.
When i check my device manager it doesnt show any warnings and it seems like every device is installed.

There is also one strange thing: I tried to install multiple equalizers (f.e. Equalizer APO) and none of them worked - no matter how I adjust settings, sound stays the same.

Now im curious is it that my audiocard is damaged, drivers wont install properly or the SoundBlasterX audiocard and laptops speakers overall are not that good?

Before you installed drivers, how have you installed Windows or have you just activated the version that came on the machine?

Did you delete partitions and do a CLEAN install?

For up to date drivers of your chassis, the best place to get them from would be the Clevo website itself:

The CD is possibly out of date already.

Have you also installed the control Centre

Yes, I deleted partitions, created new ones, formated them and installed windows from zero.
I downloaded driver from your link, installed it and now I don't have sound at all.
Yes, I installed control center, but it doesn't have any options related to sound.

Did you remove and uninstall previous drivers and the ones you have put on before trying the clevo drivers.

You are never going to get decent sound from it given the speakers built in (2W), although its odd that theres no effect when trying to change equalizer settings.

From what I can tell, theres no soundcard, its the onboard audio on the motherboard and then a software package, but you should still have sound in your device manager, are you able to post a screenshot up of device manager? What sound is it telling you it has?

Installator did it. It worked in the following way:
Removed old driver
Restarted PC
Installed new driver
Restarted PC

Beside this, it's the same driver's version I got from this site: (4.76) 6.0.9061.1

I also assumed that it's due to speakers, but it is weird that headphones also sound worse than on my old laptop (like 10-20% less loud and a little bit less frequencies, less detailed). I wouldn't tell that they sound horrible, but noticeably worse. Yet they sound completely the same on both laptops when i try it with external focusrite audio card.

What headphones are they?
If they have their own audio card it shouldnt be affected, if cheaper ones then yes the sound will sound very different depending on what audio is in the machine itself.

2W speakers are never going to have great quality, and will sound tinny and metallic, lacking "fullness" of sound, but even with that...changing the equalizer setting shouls have some effect on the sound.

Looking at your device manager.... it may be worth using DDU to completely strip out any nvidia stuff installed along with the GPU drivers, and reinstall your GPU drivers as a custom install WITHOUT the nvidia audio (been mentioned that they are causing issues in several other threads)

Guess the drivers havent changed since, but I was just trying to point you in the right direction of getting latest drivers if ever you experience an issue.

Display Driver Uninstall is a free and safe software to remove graphics drivers, which often leave bits behind when you uninstall the normal way.

It should strip out all the Nvidia stuff, including teh audio driver from Nvidia, and then you can reinstall the GPU drivers without.
@SpyderTracks did a handy guide on how to use DDU...the post should be pinned somewhere (technical forum?)

It might help, but it is a guess.

I removed realtek audio driver and nvidia driver with DDU.
After this sound became better both in speaker and in headphones (now they sound identical with my previous pc which is great!). Equalizer program started to work.
I installed nvidia drivers back excluding audio driver. Everything still was fine.
Then I tried to install realtek audio drivers back and sound disappeared. I removed them again and everything is fine now.
Thank you very much.
Could anyone please tell why realtek drivers makes sound dissappear, while it works fine with default driver installed by OS?
