Possible HDD failure?

I have used a new laptop ordered from pcspecialist for about 2 weeks. It had no problem until yesterday when it start showing an error message

"Status: Oxc00000e9

Info: An unexpected I/O error has occurred."

everytime I started the laptop and failed to boot.. I formatted the HDD and reinstalled windows. As soon as I finished reinstallation and tried to make a backup using windows 7 built in backup program, it failed with the I/O error message. I ran the check disk application chkdsk /r to C drive and now at 13%, laptop froze and currently is not progressing after 3hours. What should I do?

Ask anyone if they have dropped the laptop while it has been running as it could have damaged the disk (Which would explain why re-installing windows didn't work and why it constantly freezes at 13% on chkdsk as it cannot get past the damaged sector), and phone PCS tomorrow and speak to the techs, they will probably want to RMA it to find out whats wrong.
