That refurbed one is pretty poor for gaming to be honest. The next day one is definitely better but still not ideal. And that monitor is about as basic as you can get....you really want 144Hz.

If you let us know what your maximum budget is (system + monitor), and any other uses you need it for, we can see if we can spec you up a better one. Of course, if you need one urgently, then you may have to compromise, budget-dependent of course

Thank you. 😊👍That is my budget. ☹️ I only need something basic, only play very basic games. No massive online multi-player stuff, more adventure, simulation, puzzle stuff, building stuff like little big workshop, prison architect, 2 point hospital, tropico. Will need it for business admin, word processing, spreadsheets, bit of photo editing, nothing fancy just adding logo to pics for social media and website, some basic video editing, again nothing fancy, just trimming clips down and removing the crap lol.
Will the pre built allow me to add a better CPU, GPU and RAM? I don't want to wait 3-4 weeks for custom built when I wouldn't be changing much as can't really afford to.
For comparison I'm currently using a very old laptop, Asus x553m and it runs most of the games I would want to play with graphics turned right and just about copes with the video and photo editing I do. There's a couple games tried to run and which wouldn't play on it such as rime, ghost of a tale and fortnlte.

But we wouldn’t know the internals, you’d need to either ask PCS or the seller, it’s not sonething we would know.

The main difference between the 2 is that @Scott build is a better all-round system which is well-balanced....while the pre-built one is the same price, it has a higher spec graphics card (which, given your gaming use, is going to be wasted) at the expense of areas.

The case, motherboard, RAM, PSU and warranty are all better in the build Scott specced up, not to mention a bigger primary hard drive. Ultimately it's your choice but, personally, I'd rather wait a few weeks for a system that I will be happy with for the next few years than one that will require significant extra money spent on it to get it to the same level

It's very different and you should wait for the custom.

In my view the biggest difference is the future potential. The B550 motherboard is the current generation budget performance option, it will support the next generation of AMD CPUs and, going by previous trends, will very likely support the next generation again after that. It has PCIe 4.0 support and has better VRM capability. Basically loads of technical PC things that make it a much tastier option. The B450 is previous generation that has been modified to accommodate the current generation, it wasn't designed for it.

1660 Ti is an old card, the 1660 Super is the latest.... but both are a huge waste for your gaming needs. Better to save here and spend elsewhere
2400Mhz RAM is very slow by todays standards. You want the fastest RAM you can get within reason. 3200mhz is supported as standard on current gen hardware.
256GB Primary is not a lot nowadays. 500GB is always recommended as they fill up fast and it's nice to have some head room. Allows you to have some fast loading games on there too without worry.
PSU - TXm is just far better all round and a little more oomph allows you to think about upgrades in the future without worrying about power. If you wanted to be doubly sure, the 650w TXm would be a decent spend. That way you would be covered up to 2080 Super power.
No AV required, windows defender is fine
Silver warranty at a fiver is a no brainer

OK thanks, didn't really understand a lot of that, but i get the motherboard, needing faster ram and not overspending on graphics card. definitely don't want to be upgrading in a couple of months, thinking further down the line, should my youngest want different games with higher system requirements.

The LAN (Wired) port is part of the motherboard...the Wi-Fi is a separate card. So, it will come with both

I took delivery of the PC build that Scott recommended but I haven't got a monitor yet.
I was going to buy this one
AOC G2778VQ 27" Widescreen
Just want to check it will work with my graphics card (geforce gtx 1650 4gb)
Does it matter what cable I use to connect PC to monitor? I think the card only has a hdmi or Dvi output.
Do I need to adjust the settings to get maximum refresh rate or will it do it automatically?

That monitor will work fine. As to connections, it depends on exactly what the graphics card has....the monitor comes with HDMI, DisplayPort and VGA. Ideally, you want Displayport as that is the best connection for gaming but HMDI is the next best. DVI requires an extra audio connection to the PC as it doesn't carry the audio signal.

As to the settings, it should do it automatically

HDMI will be absolutely fine right up to 4/8k now. The only slight issue is that DP is required for Adaptive sync to run. If it doesn't have DP anyway then there's no concern

The monitor has adaptive sync so if I can't use am I wasting money buying this monitor? Should I save my money and buy something else rather than paying for something I can't use?
