Pre-sales enquiry - keyboard layout

Hello,

I'm looking to buy either a Genesis IV or a Voyager II and I have a couple of questions about the keyboard layout.

1. The product photos all show the US keyboard layout. Can anyone confirm that the 'UK keyboard' setting in the configurator will give me a proper, standard UK layout that looks like this (rather than something like the horrible hybrid 'British' layout that you find on Macs):

KB_United_Kingdom.jpg

2. The product photos also show half-height Enter keys, which I really dislike. From looking through photos of people's new purchases, it seems as though some models actually have full-height Enter keys while others don't. Can any owners or PC Specialist employees let me know how the Genesis IV and Voyager II measure up in this regard?

Many thanks for any help.

Welcome to our forums :)

1. I can confirm that you will receive the UK British layout, with the " and @ symbols in the correct place.

2. I can confirm that the chassis will have the full-height enter key.

Thanks for your replies. So does this vary by model? There are some pictures of a Vortex III here that show it with a half-height enter key and the hash key above it. Sorry to nitpick, but it's a real pet peeve of mine and if I decide to go for a different model than the ones I've mentioned above, I just want to be sure that all the keys are going to be the right size and in the right place!

Many thanks.

The keyboard on the Vortex 3 is not the greatest layout I've ever used.

The '0' key on the numeric pad is small and not where your fingers expect it to be.

'End' and 'Home' are only achievable when combined with the Fn key and are doubled up on the PgUp and PgDown keys. This is probably the biggest pain in the ass of all.

There's no alternate menu key (the key that sits to the right-hand side of the right-hand Win key on desktop keyboards).

Apart from those negative points, the actual keyboard itself is comfortable and has a nice action when typing or gaming.

On any laptop, if you go for the UK keyboard, you'll get the full enter key. If you go for a US keyboard, you'll get a half-height one.

Not true at least on vortex3.
I ordered my Vortex 3 with english UK keyboard and the enter key is not a full one (just the size of two normal keys) everything else is UK other than what HonestFlames mentioned
