Problems at PCS?

I don't like posting here, it feels bad manners to be slagging off a company in public, but I'm not sure what else to do.

My desktop PC order status is "In Building 13th working day", although it has been three weeks since I placed the order.

I received an email on October 22 saying that my PC had entered the testing phase, but the website still says "In Building" and not in testing. It never said "In Testing" as far as I can tell.

I emailed for an order status update two days ago, but have not had a response.

Is this typical of PC Specialist? I am concerned that there are problems.

It can take two or three days for answer by email,if you don't receive a reply today,I would try phoning them.
It's possible they found issues during testing, but they won't send it out until all is well,so I wouldn't worry too much, they always deliver.

The online status often has a delay in updating compared to the emails (or the emails are worded slightly wrong). I remember I had one saying it had gone into testing even though it was still at building.

I really don't think it's worth getting worried about, in fact I bet it'll turn into awaiting dispatch in no time and you'll wonder what you got worked up about. Unless of course Vanthus is correct in saying they may have found a problem.

Hey LEO would you be able to either post the email content here or in a PM to me so i can see if there is a mistake with the automated email service at the minute.

For what it's worth, they did finally reply to my email and bumped my PC up the queue. So it's still late, but less late than it was going to be. It shipped this morning.

Late as more than 30 working days?

No, but nearly. It was ordered a month ago. I don't see 30 working days as some kind of magical deadline though, and I'm not criticising PC Specialist for being slow - just for their faulty status system and very slow responses to email. When I ordered it, the status page said that the most likely delivery day was October 24, which is nearly two weeks ago.

I understand, I quoted the 30 working days as per the T&C since the dates given when placing an order are just estimates. The email response could improve but in my experience contacting technical support from my homepage at their website usually takes one working day.

Well, it arrived. And I really hoped it would turn around my declining impression of PCS.

But alas.

"Power supply surges detected during the previous power on. Asus anti-surge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply!"

Is what it says after you run a game for a few minutes, and then discover it shuts off abruptly. Google suggests this is caused by an underpowered PSU. Frustratingly I actually chose an upgraded PSU at the suggestion of the PCS builder tool.

So who knows. I've emailed tech support. Frustrating.

It seems this problem has occurred quite a few times with Asus motherboards recently, if you look in this thread: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?28808-brand-new-desktop-crashed-with-asus-anti-surge-protection&highlight=asus+anti+surge you will see that the solution is too turn off the anti-surge protection which is just being a bit over sensitive

God, I hope my PC doesn't take this long. It is in its first day of Pre Production today. I ordered it on Saturday. I'm worried now
