Programming and gaming laptop

Hello, I am looking for a laptop that can run most modern games on medium settings, and be used for programming. Particularly I would like to play ARK: Survival Evolved, and I'd like to be able to future proof the laptop as best as I can, but I am new to this so any help would be appreciated. Please let me know if I am being too hopeful by trying to run demanding games on this laptop, or if more info is needed on the specs of the laptop.
The specs of the laptop are:

  1. Chassis & Display
  2. Optimus Series: 17.3" Matte Full HD 120Hz 45% NTSC LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
  1. Processor (CPU)
  2. Intel® Core™ i7 Six Core Processor 10750H (2.6GHz, 5GHz Turbo)
  1. Memory (RAM)
  2. 16GB Corsair 2666MHz SODIMM DDR4 (2 x 8GB)
  1. Graphics Card
  2. NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1650 - 4.0GB GDDR5 Video RAM - DirectX® 12.1
  1. 1st Storage Drive
  2. 1TB SEAGATE 7mm SERIAL ATA III 2.5" HARD DRIVE WITH 128MB CACHE (7,200rpm)
  1. 1st M.2 SSD Drive
  2. 256GB PCS PCIe M.2 SSD (1900 MB/R, 1100 MB/W)
  1. Battery
  2. 2 x Optimus Series 46WH Lithium Ion Battery

Thanks in advance.

what is your budget and how hard do you plan on gaming?
going with the 4800h over this i7 will give you HUGE deltas in performance (upto 70%).

this is not much more expensive but is FAR more powerful than your pick. to add storage you can use an external SSD if it bugs you that much

Thank you for this, I think this is a great laptop for the price. My budget is around £1200 but I am willing to go a bit higher if I need to. I plan on gaming occasionally, but typically I don't play PC games much because of the low specs of my current laptop.

Once again, thank you for the suggestions, I will stick closely to them.

you really have no reason to go above £1200, the one i picked should be the best for your needs apart from lower than optimal storage (You can bump this up with external SSD/HDD or install a new SSD yourself down the road). Also, the rtx 2060 is a pretty capable GPU so you might find yourself gaming more than present :)

Thank you so much for this, I think the laptop you've picked is amazing value for money so I'm really impressed with that.
One last thing. Would it be better to include two 512GB SSDs or just one 1TB SSD, or do you think this is not necessary.

Uhh, use a single 1TB SSD so you can add another one later.

I don’t know how much data you will be working with in the future so I don’t know which of the two is better for you, Forgaming 512 is the minimum as I started to get storage issues if I had more than 8-10 titles downloaded with 512gig.
If programming involves a lot of files of large sizes, go with the 1TB

Okay, I will go for the 1TB just to be safe. Thank you so much for your help 😀
