Question about warranty

What exactly does the warranty being offered cover?

Hardware being bouguht already has a 2-3 year warranty - does the PC Specialist warranty extend in addition to the warranties that come standard?

For example if I buy the PC Specialist Gold Warranty will that extend the warranty an extra 2 years, so a piece of hardware that has 2 year warranty as standard would be covered for 4 years?

It offers additional cover for parts by PCS. Any other standard warranty will be dealt directly with the manufacturer but with the additional warranty from PCS, they will provide a fix or replacement which is usually faster than if you claim it under manufacturer warranty. I believe some parts are OEM and will not carry the same warranty as the retail equivalent.

If you read the Terms & Conditions you'll see that the PCS warranty is in addition to any warranties you get with the parts:

7. Warranty

7.1 In addition to any warranty that you may have purchased with your Goods, all Goods that we supply are warranted free from defects for 12 months from the date of supply. This warranty does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

When we say 'additional cover' we mean additional time?

If you buy the Gold warranty a part that comes with 3 year warranty will be given an extra 2 years cover?

So it will be covered for 5 years?

Nope, the warranty from PCS is from the date of delivery - it is not an addition in time to the manufacturers warranty, I think 'additional cover' here referred to above is the fact that PCS will sort it out for you, so you won't have to go sort it out with the manufacturers and PCS will fit and test any replacement parts as well, meaning you don't have to (which you would have to do with just a manufacturers warranty).

If you are happy to install the replacement item yourself them PCS will also do advanced replacements (presuming they still stock the faulty item), so you get a replacement straight away - so you don't have to send it off to the manufacturer, wait for them to test it and then wait for them to send a replacement.
