Quiet Gaming PC ~ £1200+

So after browsing a few threads, this forum looks super useful, so I thought I'd defer to the experts. My current PC is about 7 years old and on it's last legs. I was going to go the lazy route and order one of the same day dispatch builds, then started reading about case noise with some of those builds.

I'm coming from a place of playing Skyrim / Witcher 3, generally with crappy settings, so it doesn't have to be mind-blowing. I was using some of the low tier rights on this page - https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/game-based-computers/ - for games like Red Dead II / Destiny as guidance, but if there's a better build, would appreciate a steer.

My monitor is:
Acer Predator Z35P 35 Inch Ultra-Wide Quad HD Curved 1800R Gaming Monitor, Black (VA Panel, G-Sync, 120 Hz (OC), 4 ms, DP, HDMI, USB Hub)

Also, priority is as quiet as possible.

If the budget needs to flex slightly, that's fine.

Thanks

Your challenge is that you have a UWQHD (1440p) screen: this is a demanding resolution for a graphics card to put out. Realistically you're looking at either the Radeon 6700XT or the Nvidia RTX 3070 for it. The budget systems you're looking at have 1660 Supers -- a very decent graphics card, but a couple of years old and aimed at the 1080p resolution.

For UWQHD, the entry-level budget is probably in the £1700 range. PC prices are mad right now. Is that a realistic price for us to look at? Anything else will be underpowered for your monitor and therefore offer a fairly poor experience.

Hmn, ok, monitor was a lockdown purchase. Ok, so I can look at flexing the budget - what would that look like ?

if you can flex the budget to £1780, then this should go with that monitor nicely

@Martinr36's build looks excellent and was very close to what I was thinking of. You could save a bit by dropping down to the Tuf motherboard and, if your existing PC is on its very last legs, you could transfer your Windows licence over and save around £100.

Solid build, one thing I will say though the Coolermaster MasterLiquid Lite 240 is quite loud. I have one and it's fairly noisy, depends on how quiet you want the machine

I'd prefer it to be described as quiet rather than quite loud. If I can make a saving on windows licence, and potentially motherboard, how could I upgrade to try to minimise noise ?

The Corsair coolers I believe are more quiet but they are more expensive, you could swap it out for the H100i

Question on the case - are those lights on the front customisable, can you choose to dim them, turn them off etc? If I wanted something without the lights, what would you suggest ?

One thing to note there is no difference between 3600Mhz and 3200Mhz RAM when it comes to gaming. You probably don't need the 3600Mhz as it wont benefit you any, unless you plan to do something other than gaming?

Thx for your help on this - just a quick follow-up, when I go through to proceed it flags that the power supply is more than sufficient. Is there a reason for taking the 805W vs the equivalent 650W Corsair in this build ? Think it's something like a £40 saving - thx

If you take the lower psu upgrading in future will be difficult I would highley recommend going for the 850rmx otherwise in future you will more then likely have to upgrade the psu aswell
