Quiet PC Any Comments?

I have a custom build quote for very similar machines from PCSpecialist & ComputerPlanet, cost within £9. I have purchased from PCSpecialist before and had a pretty good experience, so I am inclined to purchase here again.

I have a couple of questions;-

The 1GB ATI RADEON™ HD5670 - Is it passive cooled? - I know the CPlanet HD5670 (Saphire) is. How much noise difference would there be if it is not?

Is the Motherboard good for this configuration? I'm not too clear on how to choose.

The power supply I have chosen is larger than necessary, however its the smallest ultra quiet - is it worth the extra £s, is the noise level noticably different in the chosen case?

What are you going to use the pc for?
If gaming you will need to upgrade the gpu. The cost could be kept the same by getting rid of the ssd.
Graphics cards usaully do not make much noise unless running at 100% fan speed. So you shouldn't really be concerned about that.
Do you intend to use crossfire or SLi in the future (have two gpus in a pc)?

Great spec you've put together there! :)

The HD5670 is branded PowerColor and will have a fan on it, although in this configuration it will be very quiet, as will the whole PC. The noise difference between the PSU's is very minimal.

Why buy from PC Specialist instead of a competitor?

1. You've bought from us before and had a good experience.

2. We have the best online reviews because we have the best customer service. We're here to support you even if things go wrong.

3. We're a much bigger more experienced company and we are financially secure. Running a credit check on the competitor returns a less favourable outcome.

I would only buy from pc specialist, unless I wanted to build it myself. They do indeed have great customer support. I know from personal expierence.

I agree, since PC Specialist will supply what I want at a competitive price why would I go elsewhere?

My problem is that I am commited to spending £40k on a loft conversion right now.......... and on the other hand my current pc is behaving oddly from time to time despite new Windows 7 clean install and a new PSU.

I would hate to be without my pc.

Lottery never comes up when you need it!

I noticed that the R3 is highly rated for quite running, but the configuration (8 x 3.5 HDD bays) is odd & might be limiting in future?

In your experience the additional soundproofing is noticable?

Thanks

No the HDD bays won't be a limiting factor in the future and while I don't have first hand experience the soundproofing does work and as far as I know there aren't any cases that are quieter than the R3.

Is anyone able to compare the R3 with the Coolmaster Sileo 500 Quiet mid-tower case?

I'm thinking in terms of how quiet, rather than other aspects, although if there are other killer differences you are aware of, please comment.
