Realtek RTL8192EE Wireless LAN 802.11n pci-e card only has 802.11b or b/g?

Hi, I recently got a new PC from PCS and selected "WIRELESS 802.11N 300Mbps/2.4GHz PCI-E CARD" and that turned out to be the Realtek RTL8192EE Wireless LAN 802.11n pci-e card.

I was getting very low download/upload speeds, I updated the driver off realtek's website which improved it slightly but the speeds are still fairly low compared to what I had on my previous PC from PCS which I got in 2016.

When I check the properties for the network adapter, it still only shows 802.11b or 802.11b/g under wireless mode. Is this expected or have I missed something?
I've also tried changing wireless channel on our Virgin mfd to a less congested channel than 1, 6 or 12 iirc.

Appreciate any help. :)

Unfortunately that card is very old now and has poor driver support. From what we hear it's very hard to get it working anymore. Personally I'd swap it for an AX200 card

Have we verified that the antennae are attached ;)
Even with the antenna, that card fails to provide any meaningful speed.

It's the actual drivers, they are so far out of date, they're not compatible anymore with modern windows.

A guy recently even had Microsoft remote control his PC and tell him there were no compatible drivers available for it.

Of course, it's worth making sure the antennas are attached, but IIRC with that card, they're not modular anyway, they're secured on by design.

Which does kind of beg the question why PCS are still selling it?
