Just purchased this second hand , and have the warranty transfered to me.

Having possible issues with thermal throttling , cpu hits 95 degree limit regularly playing warzone and running cinebench or throttlestop test.

It hits thermal limit then goes down to high 80s then straight back up till it throttles.

Now I didn't notice any lag or decrease in performance playing but I stopped quickly when i was constantly throttling. Also I have the liquid cooler running as well.

Is it normal for this laptop due to not being able to undervolt this cpu ?

Ive tried limiting PL1 and PL2 to with throttlestop and made no affect.

Can anyone who has a similar setup advise on what temps they're getting ?

In my downloads I have control centre V4.1.44.15 and V5.1.49.2. I find that the control center doesn't have many options compared to what I've seen I can only install V5 , V4 doesn't work and it appears it has more content In it.

what is the latest control center version and is there any tutorials or information explaining what all should be on it.

I have removed the back lid in order to inspect the thermal paste but I'm unable to remove the heatsink I've taken every screw I can see off so if anyone can shed any light on the removal will be a big help

A laptop needs full servicing which means taking the heatsink off, cleaning out any dust and repasting the CPU and GPU (as they tend to be on a combined heatsink these days), otherwise the paste degrades and it will thermal throttle.

If it's second hand, you'd have to ask the seller to transfer their warranty to you, that will give you access to a PCS account with all your drivers. Without that you're a bit stuck and without the management driver, it won't work properly. All aspects including cooling is controlled via the management driver.

If you have already transferred ownership, give PCS a call and I'm sure they can supply you with a manual. They may have an updated control center as well.

Have you serviced it since you've bought it?

Thanks for the reply , yes everything transfered to me so I can access the available drivers and control center. From what I've seen control center is basically the same as xmg and another company. (I know I should only use pc specialist control center due to bios and warranty)

From what I've gathered v4 has some more desirable features. So hopefully we can get it installed tomorrow.

Yes I'm keen to inspect the thermal paste but having trouble removing the heatsink should be informed from them tomorrow on that as well.

Has anyone replaced their thermal paste to liquid metal ? Will this affect warranty as its not as supplied in build.

Thanks

I think the v4 is likely the windows 10 version which isn’t compatible if you’re using windows 11.

I didn’t realise that model was ever sold without Liquid Metal, my guess is it originally had Liquid Metal and the previous owner put normal paste on it.

You’d need to confirm with PCS but if it was supplied with standard paste you have to be sure the heatsink is compatible with Liquid Metal. Best to speak to PCS on that.

They have stated for the chassis supplied with Liquid Metal that any reapplication needs to be done by them to retain warranty.
