Recoil Series IV - wrong webcam fitted?

I recently (just under 3 months ago) purchased a Recoil Series IV laptop. Everything is has beeen fine so far (apart from a squeaky space bar key which iom waiting to see if it get worse before contacting them about). However yesterday I went to use skype for the first time on it and the people on the other end of the call mentioned how poor the quality of the video picture was. After the call had ended I opened the windows 10 camera app and noticed that I was only able to select up to 0.9MP as the highest resolustion.

Can any one else who has the same laptop (Recoil Series IV / X170SM) confirm if they have the same issue with the webcam. Can you also confirm if you have a specific webcam driver in your PCSpecialist download section (mine does not and therefore uses a driver that windows finds (dated 2006!!).

Your laptop has a 1MP camera built in, so ok give or take it's a bit it's not far off?? Deffo nothing in your account drivers section, I know they are not exactly easy to find sometimes?

Most laptops have a 1MP camera, that is able to shoot videos at 720p. The quality will get better if you have good lighting on your room, but on low/medium light the quality really can be quite bad.

The laptop specification page specifies that the laptop is fitted with a 2MP camera (not a 1MP), therefore it is significantly different quality.

You're right, the Recoil's configurator actually mentions that it has a full HD cam, which would be the 2MP. Unusual for laptops, but you're absolutely right. (y)
