Here is a review I was asked to write on the buying experience of a 17.3 Optimus IV. Any comments or observations would be very welcome. Thanks.

I am very pleased with my laptop purchase and I would certainly recommend PcSpecialist to others.

I found the website easy to use and configuring the specifications of the laptop quite straight forward. Some may have benefitted from a little help and guidance with the configuring process however. Perhaps some simple advice on which processor to choose along with the benefits of choosing an SSD and second hard disc may have been beneficial. This may improve sales and customer satisfaction. The order took a few days longer to arrive than I expected but I understand this was due to a particularly busy period.

The delivery process was excellent. Once the order was ready for dispatch, there were regular emails tracking the delivery, culminating in a one hour delivery slot. The DPD delivery van actually arrived early however and amusingly the driver waited until the designated time before ringing the doorbell.

The Laptop certainly has a quality feel and works very well, carrying out all that I ask of it. There are a few minor niggles however.
• On first switch on and set up the second hard disk was not shown. As I have some experience with computer components I decided, reluctantly, to remove the accessories cover. I was pleased to see that the disk was there, however it was not connected. Two screws should be used to secure the disk into a cradle, but I suspect these were omitted so as to speed assembly. Using the connections pins to hold the disk in place is, I suppose, acceptable. A hard knock in transit must have dislodged the disk drive. Having secured the disk and switching back on, all was well.
• The sound quality of the internal speakers is poor, even by laptop standards. It should be noted that when using external speakers the quality is excellent.
• The THX sound effects program, although appearing to work visually does not make any difference to the sound.
• There is no evidence that an AOU screen has been fitted. The picture quality is however, excellent.
