Review of Lafite laptop - warning about track pad!!

This laptop initially appeared slim and good looking as well as portable and powerful. However slim proved to be flimsy. Warning - the track pad is so sensitive and the chassis so flimsy that the mouse moves the cursor even when you are not touching the pad - just using the keypad!! This is clearly a fault. When I returned mine because of this fault they then charged me for windows 7 as it had been activated on what I thought was going to be my primary laptop. Be careful with pc specialist products - make sure that you are happy with them before activating windows - an expensive mistake I found.

I haven't experienced that issue you present.
It's true that the body creaks a little when you apply presure on the palm-rest for example while typing (only slighly unpleasant, not very bothering and only sometimes) but appart from that, the mouse pointer only moves when I actually use the pad.
Maybe is your palm touching the pad without noticing while typing?

What do you mean by they charged you for windows 7? Did you purchase it?

I believe it does say in the T&Cs that if you return the PC/laptop for a refund and have activated Windows then they cannot refund it since it is no longer useable by anyone else - same applies to any software you activate - I suspect this applies to PC's sold by most custom PC builders.

Ah I see.

I would recommend buying Windows 8.1 separately guys. You can buy 8.1 Pro Student from Microsoft for £50 - you have to be a student though and hand access to a .ac.uk email account.

For the purpose of testing PCS' PCs I would recommend testing it by buying the PC without an OS and installing Ubuntu or any other linux distro first and then purchasing Windows - whether that be from PCS or Microsoft. Note that by buying from microsoft, you are buying an actual key - whatever it's called - meaning you can use it again if you want to reinstall Windows maybe to another device.
Whereas with PCS you will be buying an OEM copy meaning it can only be used once.

Though note: Either way, you have to install the drivers for your PC yourself.

Or you can buy the OS from PCS, have them do the work and take the risk of losing your 70 or so pounds.

You dont need to install anything on your new laptop to test it.

PCspecialist ships it with a "demo/trial" version of windows if you bought it without OS.
