PC Specialist asked me to post a review of my new Laptop so here it is
This is my 6th Computer from PC specialist since 2014
This one is to replace my existing Media centre Laptop in the front room which is about 5 years old (And my 1st from PC specialist)
I only use it to play music and to show downloaded videos, I use the programme JRiver Media Center, which has an amazing database and can be set up in so many ways. I have some 77,000 albums and is one of the few programmes that can handle this many files, album images etc and do it extremely fast
It also includes a very high end video player by the name of MadVr which is built in and fully configurable. My specs may seem a little high for what I use it for but if I am not showing album covers and lyrics I often use a programme by Sound Spectrum to show Visualizations which needs a high end graphics card to run smooth at it's max settings and in time to the music during party's etc. It is connected by HDMI to my Yamaha AVR and 5.1 speaker system, so not using the inbuilt sound card (JRiver Wasabi drivers, Nvidia HDMI out)
The laptop took some setting up as the Nvidia graphic card now uses DCH (what's that all about?) drivers not the standard ones and these it seems do not include the Nvidia Control Panel in with the drivers, the prompt told me to get the control panel from Windows store and handily took me there but the download button would not work even though it was a free programme, I found eventually I had to go via checkout to download the free programme?
A bit of fiddling with the TV to get the screen sizes to match and all is well
As for the Laptop it seems very well made with good feeling keyboard, I do a lot of gaming on my PC (also PC Specialist) and after that there is no way I could play on this or any laptop the touchpad is awful with the left/right buttons just weird but this is just my personal opinion as I'm spoilt on a big screen, big keyboard, Multi button mouse Gaming PC
It's not a cheap laptop but I am lucky where I live on an offshore island we are Tax free so no added VAT or import tax
Would I buy from PC Specialist again, absolutely Did I hear nvidia are bringing out a RTX4080TI..............
