Basically branding. ASUS products have a phenominal mark up for very little difference in performance. Our general advice is don’t waste your money on the ASUs cards as it’s just not worth it.I'm looking at a RTX 2080 Ti for my new build and I've noticed there are two on the PCspecialist site. One is the Nvidia RTX2080 TI , the other is the Asus Rog strix RTX 2080 TI. There's a big price jump with the latter so anyone know what the difference is here?
As I said, simply branding, nothing more. Thanks SpyderTracks. Yeah this was my issue, I was seeing comparison benchmarks on youtube with only a few FPS ( if any ) difference, so why the big price markup?
Google Asus Tax. Which is what it's known as.
It's generally not worth buying a 'top end' model of a GPU - why buy a £440 RTX 2060 Super when a few quid more gets you an RTX 2070 Super, or you could buy more or less the same performance from the cheapest RTX 2060 Supers at £330. And so on. At the RTX 2080 ti has no model above it, the prices for the higher end ones start to run away a bit to the point of massively diminishing returns.
If a particular model of 2080 ti catches your eye you could always order the system with no GPU and buy and fit your own 2080 ti from elsewhere.
