I’m afraid it is up to PCS actually. What kind of business operates in a zero communication policy and leaving you to go and read links on other websites that people are also perfectly clear about?

You order a new Tesla you aren’t emailing the manufacturer of the batteries for an update you are emailing Tesla for an update as that is who the order is with.

EDIT: sorry you’ve posted something else while I was typing. Yes there’s banners they are effective as a chocolate tea pot. If they can put banners on saying there will be delays (again which we are perfectly clear on) then they can put on a banner saying based on current orders we would suggest holding off your order until April / May time. It’s not that hard.

I'm still very early days here at day 14 so I know I'm still a long way away.

What would be nice though is some sort of visual that gets updated everyday saying how many 3080's are ordered, how many are expected and how many have been delivered/fulfilled. I've seen another company doing this but I think the difference is they are no longer taking orders, so not sure if they could make that work.

Please read the stickies and familiarise youself with the current situation, what you're suggesting isn't possible in any way. The stickies explain exactly why.

No SI is able to give stock updates, it's just not possible at the moment.

And again let me be perfectly clear before it is construed the wrong way. We’re not asking for insider trading deals - they might get five GPUs a week, they might get none. Not asking for that. Asking for a suggestion that if you place an order now you might be waiting till June. What is so fundamentally wrong about that?

To be fair to PCSpecialists it states pre order on any 3000 series graphics cards and AMD cards along with the CPUs. If people see preorder they should then look into what it means and how long they will be waiting.
Not at all. I can pre order the Mass Effect remaster today and know that it’s out in May.

So just because it says pre order which I am fine about it gives me zero insight into how long I will be waiting.

So I am on day six, when I ordered, everywhere I looked stated there are going to be delays and PCS cannot give delivery time, I know what I signed up to and how long I might have to wait, I can't see how PCS would be able to tell me my PC will be delivered in May /June if they do not know when they will have the parts available to build it??

Okay. May / June is an example added by me. I know they can’t, I’m asking that they simply advise that due to the backlogs they potentially have, to suggest that the customer (you) might want to refrain from placing that order until such a time.

They will know that, based on their orders compared to number of GPUs delivered in the past three months whether there is any chance of fulfilling those orders before June won’t they? And that is all I am asking. It is not rocket science to look at the number of GPUs they’ve had compared to the number of outstanding builds they have you can work out a percentage.

That’s the beauty of stock control, if they have an order of 500 cards in this afternoon they can put a giant banner on their website proclaiming we have stock!! Order now!! If they get one or two a month and have 2974 orders for builds containing one, they can suggest people holding off.

Nobody’s salty. Nobody’s stressed. It’s just a suggestion. If I’m waiting till June the money can sit in my bank account instead and I’ll order in June.

This is the partial content of an email I received from PCS on 1st Feb which I am happy to share. Hopefully it answers the questions asked above about numbers of outstanding orders.

"The global supply situation from Nvidia is extremely tight, and Nvidia are only providing a small allocation to manufacturers each week. We currently have 1594 orders placed with us for computers featuring this product. Since December, we have only received 236 units and we are assembling all orders on a first come, first served basis.

We are doing everything we can to secure better supply, but the situation is not likely to improve anytime soon. Although Nvidia are not providing any official updates on supply, we are hearing rumours that supply might not free up until March 2021 or beyond."

That’s great! So they can give us some information. Wish it was given to me when ordering though as I’m only a few days in but knowing what I know now the money is better off in my account earning me interest rather than in theirs earning them interest

But this is exactly what I mean.... it's like some people are completely blind to what's been going on for the past year?

Yes, that's an expected release date, but check every single tech release date over the last year, you'll find they were either delayed or in the case of hardware, extremely low stocks initially. For everything.

Games wise, almost all releases have been delayed.

It's incredibly tough for everyone at the moment.

I trust PCS having had a PC from them before, I saw the delay in the stock levels and ordered my new PC in January, hoping that by the time I need it in June that the situation has calmed down a bit. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Yep, look at everyone trying to get hold of a PS5. It's a jungle out there.

To add to this all new gen consoles are still hard come by, GPUs are hard to get and so are the new CPUs. Even old tech has risen in price due to the slow down in the manufacturing of these new parts.

If you need a computer now then order with a lesser GPU and receive it quicker. Alternatively source your own GPU, I get multiple pings a day from stock informer for 6800XT, however the piece for these are currently £900, which is way above the original retail price quoted by AMD.
The 3080s have started to be stocked by retailers more frequently, however every time I get a ping from stock informer they are either sold out instantly or £1000+ which is more than I am willing to pay for one.

Stock informer have even now set up alerts for a new type of lay-z-spa just because the manufacturing of them is low due to the current pandemic. I think that says it all when it comes to how bad some manufacturing has been hit.

Ultimately if you’re not happy with the wait cancel your order have your money back and reorder later down the road, but I’d put money on if you cancel now and reorder in June/July you’ll still have to wait.

Earning interest? Please let me know what bank your with as all my saving accounts have had interest rates slashed and even my premium reward accounts has had certain rewards changed due to the current pandemic and world economy declines.

It was obvious within a couple of days of the launch of the 3080 that there was a GLOBAL SHORTAGE yet people continued to order, so what did they expect but a long wait

This computer is entirely purchased from the profits of trading stocks (to help me trade more ironically)

So yeah it’s better off with me than with them

Did you not do any research as to the availability and the global shortage of these cards that was apparent within a few days of their launch, if not more fool you

Pre ordering a game is completely different to pre ordering a part. A game they can just release, with parts they have to actually make them.
Then it should not say pre order then as it’s not a pre order it should say ‘we have zero control on this item and placing the order is at your own risk’ but that’s not fluffy is it?

As for insinuating that I am blind because I cannot see what is happening in the world I think you really need to go back and read what I am saying. I’ve never once said I have a devine right to my order all I have asked all along is more clarity.

There’s a post now to say there’s over 1590 orders from the beginning of February. This gives me more clarity and helps me base my next decision of waiting out the storm or asking for my money back and coming back later in the year. So thanks for that information, very helpful. Was all I wanted.

PCS could have answered the phone or my emails. They so far have chosen not to. The £3200 I paid them went instantly from my bank account however. That is not good customer service and we are all working through a pandemic.

All the zealots saying PCS aren’t to blame I never said they were. They just need to update their website. I’ve paid them for goods and services, my contract for the goods is with them. I don’t expect to go to a competitor or another vendor to get my updates.

PCS have repetitively stated why they won't give details like that, please read the stickies.
