RTX 3080

I ordered my liquid series on the 2nd of October, went into building on the 21st. What I have seen on the forum I still have at least a couple of weeks to go before it goes into testing as it is still waiting for the FE3080. I am considering to upgrade the cpu from the 3900x to the 5900x. Has anybody have any info whether this is possible since it is in building and would this delay the delivery even further? I wonder how much of the cpu demand can PCS fulfil. If it is anything like the 3080 I would just leave it.
I ordered a liquid series on the 24th September with a strix 3080. Went into building on 13th October.
Was told it was waiting for the 3080.
Also they said I could update the cpu to a 5900x which I did on launch day.
On Monday the 9th November they said my order had physically gone into build, any more amendments I would like to make now to only phone up, no online amendments.
Currently its still in build.

Thanks Scarpa1! The ominous phone call, just how much I love it. The last two times i phoned I waited 45 minutes in the queue. Tried this morning, I was the 20th in the queue.
I naively believed the lead times on the website when I ordered. At this stage I am in a desperate need of the pc. My laptop cannot handle blender and unity and uni deadlines are looming. Next time I order one surely I wont do near any release date. My big-ass monitor is a lone and sad site on my desk.

Yes I tried calling today during lunch break but didn't get through.
Not 100% sure how long the liquid series takes to build as it goes through a number of tests so it won't be a few days, I know that. Its been 5 days now on top of whatever they did previously so thought maybe worth ringing to see but didnt get through before I had to get back to work.
Maybe there is nothing to worry about so may just wait until Monday to see if any progress has been made.

40 days into build and having not had an automated update email in 3 weeks, I get one today saying 16th for estimated build date, which brings a little hope as when I contacted them they did say, vaguely 😂, looking like end of this week or into next week, 5900x only thing waiting for!!

Everything crossed here 🤞🤞

Out of interest, how do you know you have a 3080 allocated?

When I contacted them they told me that I was only awaiting the 5900x

I can only take their word on that, and as you know from his thread they’re being very economical with their info

FYI I ordered the ASUS strix 3080, I haven’t spoken to them since I went away to work, but as due back next week contacted them for an update and was told 5900x only thing I’m waiting for, and like I said haven’t had an automated build email in weeks and got one today about going to build 16th

Still a fingers crossed moment as loads have been in this position.

Did everyone else just get the update email from PCS saying they are going to stop automatic Emails etc? As they clearly don't mean anything at this time xD
Got one of them weeks ago, think about two weeks after order, then heard pretty much nothing until yesterday when I contacted them and then the automated email about 16th, up until today I hadn’t had an automated update email since first week in October.

I ordered my build on the 22nd of September, and a week ago I asked them if the Asus ROG Strix 3080 had been allocated (because I got an email saying my PSU was out of stock until the 27th NOV), however I was told they did not have it available and most likely would not have it available before my PSU comes back in stock.

edit: I've also had those automated emails that mine is estimated to be built on the 16th, but I think it's safe to assume that it won't happen.

The automated emailing system for estimated build times had been introduced during the lockdown periods, this helped customers gauge accurately where they stood in a queue to receive their order. This is also when we had low staffing levels and upwards of 20-25 working day wait times, it worked extremely well and kept customers well in the loop.

Unfortunately this system did not include pre-order items and it was giving customers updates based on arbitrary values, so essentially a never ending sequence of "your order is due to be built on ##-##-####".

This has been stopped in the recent email update that you have received so any build information will now be accurate to an actual build date. The flipside of removing this system is that you will unlikely receive any updates until a card is allocated to your build and the process has begun.

Just remember, we are at the mercy of suppliers who are also at the mercy of NVIDIA. It's unchartered territory for all involved and we will certainly be using it as a learning experience.

Keep your head held high guys and we will get your cards out with your order at the earliest date possible, we don't have time to rest at PCSpecialist but if it means getting systems out with no delay, then we will do it.

Hiya, for those of us waiting for 3080s, is it worth swapping to 3070s? I know all 30 series cards have issues, but are the 3070s coming in quicker?

Or alternatively can someone recommend a temporary card to take for the moment, before upgrading next year?

I appreciate you asking the question as it's something I've been asked a lot lately.

the 3070 has been coming in a lot quicker than the 3080 and 3090 graphics cards, but you have to factor in the amount of orders that have been placed with a 3070 included, this pretty much brings the 3070 in to similar territory of the other 3000 series cards.

It is an RTX 2080Ti in a cheaper package after all, so we understand why it is so popular.

As of right now NVIDIA hold the monopoly on graphics cards, you have no other alternative until we know more details about the AMD 6000 series in the coming days. I wouldn't recommend opting for an older generation NVIDA 2000 series or an AMD 57## as these are due to be end of lined and you are going to spend money on outdated tech.

The situation is a double edged sword but it will be much better given time.

I wonder if the observed average wait of 35-40 working days per order is correct for most of us with 3000 series cards? Seems like that is a somewhat good preliminary number, or should we not trust it too much?

I cancelled my 3080 but am awaiting the Zen 3 CPU which are pre-order by my understanding.
Does this mean that your latest email is correct per below?
I received this at 6.35 this morning so its definitely automated.

I believe that the AMD 5000 series of processors are an exception knowing that we've had stock on these items and suppliers are also giving PCSpecialist ETA information.
