Running Lightroom and Photoshop CS6 - Would I need 512GB SSD ?

Hi Guys ,
The time is drawing near before I put in my order for my first ever PC Specialist laptop , 3 weeks or so .

I can't decide between the Octane 11 or the Defiance 11 [ both 17.3" ] - a lot of folk say the Octane will run too hot but if that's the case then why do PCS build it the way they do ? Surely it would be fine especially with a cooling stand but it has to be said that for the money the Defiance is very tempting for my needs , mostly for Photo Editing and watching films , perhaps a little gaming .

My question is - I shall be running Lightroom 6 and either CS6 or Adobe CC and I'm thinking of configurating it with 2 Hard Drives of 750GB 7200rpm and an MSATA drive of either 256GB SSD Samsung SM951 or 512GB SSD Samsung SM951 .

I've never had a laptop with two hard drives before , let alone 2 hard drives and an SSD , I'm not even sure how a machine like that works , someone even suggested an 128GB Scratch drive - but I'm in unknown territory there .

So , 256GB or 512GB SSD and the other points I'm unsure of is which Sound Card to get and do I get the Killer Wireless or not , a lot of folk say that the Killer Wireless isn't compatible .

Your advice will be much appreciated , thanks .

In terms of fitting the actual applications and Windows on, you can easily fit all that on a 128GB drive.
You will need more for storage for data, but how much more only you can decide based on what you expect to be doing.

I'm totally new to a 3 drive laptop , the machine I have just now is a 14" Lenovo Thinkpad T410 8GB and 1TB - I have Adobe Elements and Lightroom on it and it works fine - since joining this Forum I've discovered that you can load your Windows and other stuff such as Games , Adobe Lightroom , CS6 etc on to your MSATA Drive for the purpose of starting them up , I wasn't sure how big a drive I would need - 256GB or 512GB SSD .

I would have 2 Hard Drives , both 750GB 7200rpm for storage and I also have a 2TB External Hard Drive for storing photographs .

It was the size of the start up drive I was unsure of , that and which Sound Card and which Wireless Card to get .

Thanks , Spuff .

Only about £50 difference in price between a 256GB SSD and a 500GB SSD. My opinion as a lay person would be to future-proof your investment/purchase and go for the larger one,

I hadn't realised it was so little between the two - I'll go for the 512GB then .
