RX 6800 - Stuttering in Warzone

Hey Guys

Wondered if anyone had any info or ideas as to what could be causing intermittent stuttering on Warzone on high settings. FPS is not dropping but the game is stuttering. This is not tearing either, it's just stuttering! This is a new PC with a 5800x & RX 6800. Got FPS capped at 90FPS and GPU utilisation doesn't appear to be the issue. No Ray tracing turned on. VRAM sits at 92% utilisation in the AMD stat viewer.

Got the most up to date drivers and Bios too. Wondering if it's a RAM issue as I have read that reccomended 3200 mhz minimum for 5800x. Would an upgrade in this space help?

Thanks for your time and support.

Hey I got the pc a couple of days ago so it's pretty mucha fresh system via PCs. Warzone was the first game I installed (after the blizzard launcher).

Based on what I've read while lurking the forum I removed bullgaurd immiedatly once I booted the machine up. It's running with a Dell monitor from work for the time being (dell 24 u2419h).

Updated the graphic card driver via Radeon software. PC was build in January.

The first thing you need to do is update everything, it's built with a generic image so will be out of date.

You need to go into windows update and repetitively run updates including any optional ones until there are none left.

That's a 1080p 60Hz monitor and it's not a gaming one either, it's entirely unsuited to the GPU, capping the framerate out of the monitor target will cause tearing. You need to enable VSync at 60fps.

But you very definitely need an appropriate monitor, that GPU is entirely wasted atm.

Yea I know, invested heavily in the GPU & CPU with the intention to get a Samsung G7 in a few months when the coffers recover! I still get the stuttering with V-sync on, as I say I don't think this is a issue with the graphics cards capabilities. I wondered where the bottle neck or issue could be.

With regards to windows updates there's none showing. I've updated everything possible.

Have you clicked check for updates?

No, I was saying the exact opposite, it's the monitor not really being appropriate for gaming, it's never going to be a particularly smooth experience.

You definitely need vsync enabled. Without it you'll get screen tearing as the screen will be out of sync.

Can I ask, what refresh rate are you used to gaming on?

I'm used to gaming on a 1050ti laptop at 25-30fps. I still get stuttering with V-syng enabled and 60fps cap, it's perplexing me.

Use DDU to completely remove the drivers and reinstall, as i don’t think 90fps should be stuttering at 60hz.

A 6800 with a 5800X should be pushing 200-240fps on warzone at 1080p and that is no good for you with that monitor - you will have to use Vsync like spyder said.

VRAM usage seems outrageously high though? I turn certain settings down that i’m not bothered about, to keep high fps and my usage is like 4.5GB i think?

Hmmm... I was wondering if you were used to really high refresh rates then it may just be the low Hz looking odd.

Are you playing online or campaign?

She still has poor performance... my 3070 is outperforming her 3080.

I don’t play on ultra and she may be, but i do play on high settings and i’d expect a 3080 to be achieve far more than 196fps in 1080 even at ultra.

Good morning chaps, AMD support ticket also reccomended using DDU to replace all drivers. I've also puchrased 32gb of 3600mhz RAM as I noticed that if I have firefox or chrome open it increases the propensity of stuttering. Gonna try installing the RAM first and then If it's not resolved I will move onto the DDU driver clear out.

will also try this nifty file cpu count. 5800x is 8 cores yea :)

If that doesn't resolve it I guess I'll be looking at trying to get a new monitor to dertime if that's the issue.

Ok so the sytem wouldn't boot with 3600mhz so ended up setting 32gb at 3200mhz after shorting CMOS pins to get the sytem booting. Will test Warzone for stutters with 32gb Ram and if persiting move onto the folder updates for core count as per the above youtube video

Has anyone experienced this noise from a PSU before?

I've emailed tech support but i appreciate it may take a while for them to get back to me. If there's something I can do in the meantime iot'd be a blessing.

It's driving me mad when I turn the PC on. Can hear it through my Hyperx sound cloud 2 headset!

That is a really under-specced psu for that build. Put in an RMA request for it and up it to an RM or RMx if i were you.

It shouldn’t be doing that whilst so new, but in a very short period of time, it will become loud and an issue - even if you replace it with a new CV650

As above, that PSU is nowhere near adequate for that build, it will be over utilised at all times and it’s a budget PSU anyway so won’t last long. That noise is because it’s not built for that spec

What's an RMA request? What's an RM or RMx?

The irony is that it's a PCS pre-built for Curry's. I've raised a support ticket so will see what they come back with :facepalm. Would be happy to pay the difference to upgrade the PSU, just would have the nightmare of trying to install it with no experience (wouldlikely be an upgrade to a modular too).

Do you think the PSU could be related to the stuttering issues I'm having in games too?

Playing with V-sync 60fps cap on a 60hz monitor and get stuttering.

A psu change isn’t the absolute hardest. Just unplug the 8 pin cpu, 24 pin motherboard and 8+8 pin into the gpu and then unplug the sata to the HDD and the molex to the strip lights(i assume it is molex).

An RMx850w though could set you back a good £130 or so. If you opt to go with that, we could walk you through it really, just make sure you only unplug the things you need to.

Hey, thanks for all the help and support. The Tech support team are sending out a replcaement CV650 as it's a known issue that it has whine. I will most likely try to upgrade and get rid of the replacement CV650 to cover the cost of upgrade.

I plan to also upgrade to a 6800xt when they are available (They're as preveleant as unicorns atm). So in order to get a PSU model that's unlikely to Whine in the future and would support my planned GPU upgrade.

Would the RMx850W be sufficient and would that be the easiest one to install?
