Ryzen 7 and PCS FrostFlow 150

hi folks, I had an issue with a damaged cooler when first recieving this new PC and want to check its working as expected and is the CPU temps below sustainable? Any help appreciated please.

  • With the CPU in a game like flight sim 2020 when flying over London, would you expect it to be hitting 85deg C continually and is that an issue?
  • I know the max is 90degC, but what is sustainable/suitable for gaming with cpu heavy games?
  • My new PC specialist PC has a PCS FrostFlow 150, with 3 front casefans in a CORSAIR CARBIDE SERIES™ 275R and one rear exhaust fan. The top of the case is open, tho I think it will take more fans and a filter. Wonder do I need them?
  • Motherboard temp seems fine and GPU temp seems fine.

Cinebench test attached. Machine spec:

Ok np, see above.

NB: I had my own graphics card and the number of case fans is as i described it above.

That cooler is not really suitable for the processor, you'd want an H100i as a minimum.
Ok thank you for the reply. That starts to make sense. It's like it works but it's not great.

I just googled the Corsair iCUE H100i PRO. It looks good.

I may go for that. I wonder what it's noise level is like compared to the case fans I have above?

Far better. That case wouldn't be recommended either unfortunately

A 240mm AIO mounted in the roof of the case is definitely the way to get your temperatures under control. Indeed, it's probably the only way in a case like the 275R. Unusually, it might even be better to have the AIO mounted as an intake because the 275R struggles so much for airflow with that pitiful intake gap at the front.

If you're going to order it (and are happy to fit it yourself), then I'd suggest ordering it as an upgrade from PCS. It is for some reason significantly cheaper than from sites like Amazon.

I found that the bracket fixing the cooler to the motherboard was bent. Once I straightened that and reapplied paste it seems fine.

Getting 60 to 70 degC during gaming. And hits 80 on occasion on high use.
