Screen dimming for no reason

In December 2020, I ordered a new gaming laptop from an online supplier (not PC Specialist). Right from the start I had a number of issues, one of which was the screen would dim whenever the battery level reached 30%. I’d go into Settings > System > Display and the slider under Brightness would be on 0 (i.e. it had moved all the way to the left-hand side). Plugging the laptop into the mains did not reset it and I had to move the slider back to it’s original setting manually. Once reset, it stayed at the correct brightness even though the battery level was now below 30%. However, recharging the battery and letting it run down to 30% again caused the issue to reoccur. NB: This had nothing to do with Battery Saver mode which was set at 20%.

After attempting to resolve the issue remotely, I eventually returned the laptop to the supplier who then spent several weeks trying to locate the problem. Eventually, they told me they had tried everything but could not resolve the issue and suggested it was a fault with the chassis. As they did not have another chassis in stock and had no idea when the next delivery would be arriving I received a full refund.

Fast forward to December last year and I decided to order a 15.6” Elimina gaming laptop, which has a Clevo chassis, from PC Specialist. It arrived just before Christmas and, lo and behold, the same screen dimming issue is happening again, although this time it’s when the battery reaches just 35%. In short, whenever the battery level reaches 35% the screen dims, the Brightness slider has moved to 0 and I have to reset the brightness manually.

Does anyone else have experience of this issue and, more to the point, have a solution to this extremely frustrating problem.

Thanks

That is as intended as a battery saving measure, and can be adjusted in the power settings

Godlike
If windows power settings look correct and the screen dimming is not following those settings have a look in the Clevo Control Center (it used the be called Game Center U I don't know what its called now). See if there is setting in there that is overriding windows.

Thanks for the prompt replies. As I said in my original post, the screen is dimming when the battery level falls to 35%. It is not happening as a result of Battery Saver, which is set at 20% by default. And I have actually turned this off to see if it would resolve the issue. It didn't!

As for Control Center, I have version 3.0 pre-installed. It seems very basic and the only section that seems relevant is Power Modes, which was set to Entertainment by default. I have tried changing this to Performance & to Power Saving, but it has made no difference.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks again.
