Screen has lined colours then turns black, have to force restart my computer?

So one time my computer screen had like brown and grey lines, the whole screen was that stripe then it had 0 visual just a gray/black screen,
which resulted me into having to force close my computer.

Is this a sign of a hardware problem? Like something is beginning to wear out?

It could just be a driver glitch, but points to graphics card or graphics driver as the issue. If you want to put it through its paces a bit, you could run furmark for a while and see how it handles it.
