self build PC

After receiving my PC from PCspecialist and noticing the set up from inside and how well crafter it was, I wanted to have a go and try to get together a lower end PC, get some parts and see how challenging it would be to build a pc.
I got the following parts:
-400w PSU
-Intel Core i3 processor
-Intel H61 Chipset Motherboard
-Coolermaster Storm Scout
-HD 6670
I use the cd-room and hard drive from my old Dell.

The most difficult part was to get the stand off screws and place the motherboard inside the case, it took me ages to put the screws because the space available is limited. Once that was sort it the rest was pretty straightforward, the way the coolermaster case is designed made connecting the cdroom drive and hard drive pretty fast. It took me around 3 hours to get everything together inside the case but then the PC wouldn't turn on, I should mention that during my time building the PC I received constant help from Tom and Corfate that pointed out that the power cables from the case were not fitted in the motherboard! Once those were fitted the PC was running fine, I installed the drivers and so far it is working well. I really like the coolermaster case, the option to turn on/off the red lights is nice and I am able to install additional fans. I spent around £270 and it was worth the experience, I feel now more confident to install things like additional fans, hard drives or even modding. My next project would be to replace the CPU cooler, add 2 side fans and improve my cable management skills.

Initially I wanted to take the mobo out of my old dell and replace in a new case, the airflow on the Dell Inspiron is awful (GPU more than 80'C and CPU at 60'C iddle) but was adviced not to since it seems the Dell mobo is not a standard one and will only fit Inspiron cases. I should have try to fit it in the case to confirm that!

It may not be a Dell branded motherboard most off-the-shelf PCs use intel boards, thats what mine turned out to be

Very nice Ruben! :)

Glad my 6670 went to a good home! :p +rep

Haven't tried Dead Island yet, Steam doesn't allow me to open the game simultaneously in 2 different PCs. I am impressed with the fan, the GPU is always under 30'C in iddle as opposed to the 60-80'C I was getting with my GT 9500. Thanks again for your help.

No worries mate, anytime! Case looks ace by the way!

Yeah, it's a great card for the price :)

I installed a new cpu cooler and some attempt of cable management

EDIT: I also replace the old dell HDD for a seagate barracuda and place it in a lower bay as suggested by Corfate

I run prime95 for a while, highest temperature was 43'C. I had to take one side fan out cos the cooler was too big for my case.

nice temps, what CPU you got? often makes a big difference, I think thats what mine hits on prime but I am running 8 cores as well, hence why i got a double fan cooler

i3-2120 (1155), didn't know that. Will keep it in mind when I replace the cpu (if), it is becoming an expensive project.
