Sense check - correct case for build?

Hi all. Having spent ages loitering in these forums, taking in all the lovely information I have opted for the below spec. I'm not looking for a critique on the build as I believe it matches my needs - gaming at 1440p - unless there is something so obviously wrong that it needs to change.

All that said, I am a little unsure on the case. I had originally opted for the Fractal focus G Black, as it came highly recommended, but I have since switched to the Fractal meshify C as i just prefer the aesthetics (shallow, right?). This is where my question lies - is the case suitable for the build below?

Thanks in advance. Full spec just for reference...

Ah, you've caught me out. I didn't realise anybody had replied to that thread so assumed it was dead. Thanks for replying to this thread too.

After more research, and grasping monitors in a build context, i realised that my 4k monitor has a 60hz refresh which I deemed a bit pants for gaming. What i've done in the interests of good marital relations, is give that monitor to my wife (i will likely still use it for photo editing) and purchased a 1440p @ 144 refresh.

Intention is to upgrade the monitor, cpu and gpu in say 2-3 years when (a) i can justify the additional spend and; (b) as new hardware is released. Thats why i've gone for the ryzen 5, 2070s and 750 PSU combo - bought for today with expansion opportunities rather than future proofing. Does that make sense or am I an idiot?

Hi @Nursemorph @SpyderTracks @Scott

A very brief one. If i was to upgrade to the Ryzen 7 3800x, which cooler, based on stock levels would be suitable? I'm trying to avoid liquid as I don't want the maintence hassle. I've had a look around the forum and can't seem to find a definitive on this. I'm not actually sure I need the 7 to be honest however it keeps nagging away at me. Current and up to date spec is above.

PC is largely for gaming and photo editing, although the later isn't happening quite so much since lockdown and children came along!

There is no maintenance with a liquid cooler like the Corsair H100i, they’re completely sealed systems.

With stocks the way they are, the noctua if you want air or the H80i or cooler master 240

I always suggest the Coolermaster 240. It's a known good cooler and it's an absolute bargain. The only, very slight, downfall is that it's going to have standard fans on there that will have noise at full chat. Thankfully the 3800X runs really cool so you shouldn't really come into that problem.

At any time in the future you could swap the cooler fans out for ML fans (magnetic levitation). They are literally whisper quiet.

The Noctua is the best air solution but I find it quite bulky to be hanging off the motherboard. Additionally I don't think it adds much to what the stock cooling solution has. It will be better, no doubt, but not enough to warrant the expense.

H80i will be similar in performance to the Noctua but offers the option of quiet fans. I tend not to recommend this as while it's fine for now, it's expensive and it won't transition well to a high powered chip.

So...... back to where I started.... the 240 is a great cooler for most mid/high level chips (not extreme) and is about the best bang for buck you are likely to see on here where cooling is concerned.
