SERIAL NUMBER NOT APPLICABLE

I have recently purchased a custom laptop.

Iam trying to utilise Intune which requires a simple serial key. This is normally obtained using

wmic bios get serialnumber

in cmd prompt.

However this appears to say
serial number not applicable
Not really ideal and I haven't seen this before or had this issue with any other device. Has anyone else come across this with custom builds or has anyone got any solutions?

Many thanks.

custom laptops won't have a BIOS serial available through that command.

If you go into the BIOS it should be listed under Product Number under the main details.

Just to confirm, on my PCS custom clevo chassis, I get the same output in powershell.

I don't know if it's possible, but if you've got lots of these and need more automation, there may be a way to script the serial entries into inTune.

Failing that, contact PCS, I don't know if it's possible, but they may be able to correct it.
