Setup help

I did a clean install and waited till the updates from windows were installed. the Flickering issue went but I still have these problems in device manager. the only drivers I installed from the cd were Atlas Sound Blaster and Control Center. I'll look at the devise id's of all the these issues in device manager. I have also tried to update the drivers for them. The laptop is a Clevo PC50DD2 Thanks for your help .

Can you list the files you have got on your CD please (screen print will suffice).

Have to be careful doing this as some drivers might still be out of date or you may overwrite a working Windows driver with an out of date one.

Again, installing drivers from the CD will cause issues, you never use a provided CD as the drivers will be well out of date. This is standard with any computer.

I would strongly recommend starting again, and get advice as you go. There is a specific way to configure windows and if you don't do it right you'll get instability and high temperatures.

Yes I understand I'll keep an eye on that I just run Firestrike and I got a firestrike score of 15041, so it seem a happy laptop.

OK these look like they relate to Intel Chipset drivers and a Thunderbolt driver being required.

Go here:

www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/download/ftpOut.asp?Lmodel=PCxxDxx&ltype=9&submit=+GO+

and download the 01_Chipset.zip file dated 28/11/2020 and install

and also the 03_Thunderbolt.zip driver too.

I have two laptops a 3yr old defiance and I have recently purchased a 15" Defiance from Pc Specialist at the moment the new laptop has no additional Anti virus/internet protection. I don't download hooky software or films if you get my drift. I don't browse the more exotic websites. The question is how good is windows defender? Some reviews have said that it has come a long way and now is very good. Most of the anti virus software I have used either slows down my computer or nags me to purchase more stuff that I probably don't need.

Windows defender is more than fine

Windows Defender is fine now but I would still run regular scans. Clamtk is my choice but Malwarebytes is good as well.

It's a normal AV so scans automatically.

I still don't think your windows is fully configured.

I guess that might be one of those yellow triangles I was trying to help you with but until you confirm if you’ve done the two files I’ve mentioned we won’t know what is still left to do.

Hi Thanks for that. I installed the drivers you recommended and reran firestrike the score improved to 15399 and the average temperature was 68 degrees so many thanks to you all.

I no longer have any triangles in device manager, it's just the finger log in that is failing, the laptop is running fine now many thanks
