Skyfire III not turning off

I got the review section Skyfire III about a month ago and what's happened about two or three times now is that I turn off the laptop and after windows finishing shutting down and the screen black, the hard drive stays on with the power button red and after about 5-10m I've been forced to manually turn it off. How do I fix this as I really don't like turning it off manually. (Also does anyone know what the colour of the power button represents on the Skyfire III as it seems to randomly change between red and blue)

It sounds more like software problems than a hardware issue to me (especially the changing keyboard light). So I'd suggest you backup all your data and reinstall Windows and the PCS supplied drivers. Of course you'll also have to reinstall all your games and applications.

I know that's a hassle but with problems like this you have to eliminate software as a cause first, and the only sure way to do that is to do a clean reinstall of Windows. I would suggest that after installing Windows and the PCS drivers you check that it shuts down normally and that your keyboard light functions properly (I think it's the Hotkey driver that handles that). Do that before you install any other software or make any config changes to Windows. That's the cleanest software environment you'll get so if it still gives you problems then it's likely to be hardware and you should call PCS.

If it's the hotkey drivers that control the power light that will explain it as I don't think the hotkey drivers are installed, where can I get them? Also, just to be clear, the power button issue is not directly related, it's just there doesn't seem to be a pattern to what situations it changes when I'm using the laptop normally.

You should be able to download a zip file containing all the drivers for your laptop from the PCS website. Login with the id and password you used to spec and purchase the laptop and on the left under the Tech Support heading you'll see an item called Downloads, click that to get your drivers.

I'm not sure whether the Skyfire is a Clevo chassis? Look on the bottom for a manufacturer label, if it says Clevo then make a note of the model number. You can also get drivers from the Clevo website at http://clevo.com/en/e-services/download.asp. Locate your model number from the list and you'll find all the relevant drivers.

The power button problem does sound to be software to me and I think it's important to eliminate software as the culprit first.

Hmm, I guess the Skyfire doesn't use the Hotkey driver if it's not listed. I would suggest that you call PCS regarding your keyboard light problem then. You might ask them about the shutdown problems at the same time.

Sorry I can't help more on that.
