Hi all my settings for sleep mode are set to never, but when I do a scan or defrag and leave the laptop on returning the sign in screen is showing, there seems no way to bypass this and I have to sign with my password. Have tried, run netplwiz etc but it seems to make no difference, Please help Thanks

if you open sign in options in windows settings, you can specify when windows asks for a sign in and set to never.

When it goes to sleep, the system shuts down and has to be awoken where it reboots to the logon screen.
If it locks, then it's all still awake, but it shows the logon screen. This is normal behaviour for windows. Everything carries on working whilst it's locked.
