So Windows 8 ruined my laptop. Need help.

I have a desktop running 7, a laptop to be received running 7, 1 desktop on XP, a laptop on XP pro and a laptop on Vista - I would rather not go anywhere near Windows 8 and the reason I ordered my laptop a week ago rather than now. I'll buy the upgrades if I read somewhere that it gives a boost worth the hassle to change.

I upgraded to windows 8 last friday and it is a bit hit and miss. Seems silly how some things have been implemented.
VLC media player does work on mine so you should still be able to play dvds with that and the free media centre while it remains free.

Runs 100% on mine. Definitely the best OS ive ever used.
